I'm in pain at the moment due to my back getting a beating from my computer chair, i need something thats going to be good for my back but also fits into the small gap of my desk

the width has to be limited to about 20 inches, wouldnt want to go over £70-80, and obviously must have good ergonomic properties, removable or no arms :)

I could barely get out of bed yesterday morning (though i cant complain really, free day off work :p) even swallowing food at the moment i get muscle pain all through my back and chest where i must have pulled muscles :(

The staples leather Operators Chair sounds like it would be worth a go, I have one myself. Its the only chair I have owned that I can do a programming stilt on without losing the ability to use my legs or end up hunched over in agony.

I link you to their website, but I think its considered a competitor.

Get yourself to somewhere that has all the chairs set up, sit in each chair for a few minutes, you should be able to work out which ones are comfy and which aren't, and take it from there.

If you spend along time in your pc chair then you ought to value the well being of your spine more than £70-80?

Incidently to cure back pain try sitting like this for 30 mins a day :-

Doing this everyday will (over time) totoaly eliminate all back problems and will boost your general health too. I use to suffer from back problems but now my back is 100% healthy and very strong. At first it will be difficult to maintain that sort of posture for more than 30 secs without slouching but soon you'll be able to maintain it for 10 min no problem. It'll also greatly reduce your chances of you spending your last years with a walking stick or similar mobility problems.

Cheers for the advise, if its stongly advised i spend more then i will, i do spend a good 2 - 3 hours sometimes in my chair without much more movement than going to get a drink

I think they are. The ones on this one fold back though it's £50 more expensive.

And tell your manager that ergonomics can have a big effect on the mind and make you happier and therefore work better, which it does!

Also your less likely to have time off for sickness because the last thing you want to do when your having back probs is goto work.
