Guys,

I have just setup my shiny new 40V3000 40" Bravia 1080p TV.

When im playing GTA4 it seems to only run in 720p - is this what it should be running at?

Also at times the graphics are a bit blocky - any way to change this?

Thanks

I'm sure I have read MGO is 630p also and that looks amazing to me

Edit: MGO is 665p Equivalent and has 2x AA, looks bloody gorgeous to me, Halo 3 and CoD4 are even lower than that and they look stunning too.

Well COD4 is 640p as well I believe and that looks stunning. It just means it won't look quite so sharp, texture quality and framerate can help balance that out.

360 - 720
ps3 - 640 i think

can anyone confirm this?

I have played cod4 on pc @ 1920x1200 and on ps3, both on my 24inch screen. The ps3 one was not very clear and imo the low resolution was obvious, even if the graphics where good and it ran smooth.

I doubt you could put together a PC for less than £300 that is capable of running COD4 at that resolution though? Or even at 640p at the same detail level.

It's all relative man :D

I run my 360 set to 1080i ... into my 50" Pioneer LX508D ... and it looks fabulous. No 'jaggies' or any other problems.
I think a lot of complaints relating to GTAIV and 'jaggies' (not here in this thread, but in general) are a symptom of poor display or display setup, rather than the game itself.

I run it at 720p on my PZ85 simply because the game is natively rendered at 720p. Regardless of what you do the image has to be upscaled to 1080p. From what i've read (feel free to correct me) setting it to 1080p on the 360 uses its internal scaler instead of at 720p when it would be using your tvs scaler. In which case you may find the tv scaler to be more superior.
