Spec me 50'' Plasma

Edit: lol just seen asprillas post.

I've been looking that long its a joke tbh. I've read just about every post on avforums and still can't decide. However, Plasma's don't have the lead they used to over LCD's

Well you're as sad as I was spending all that time looking :D

I agree that LCDs come on, but from the Samsungs and Sonys I have seen, they still can't match up to the natural picture produced on a good plasma. I saw a 46 X3000 (think that's correct number) in a SONY store playing casino royale on blu-ray and although it was the sharpest picture I had ever seen, it just looked wrong. It was a while ago so hard to explain in detail, but it was jsut too sharp and colourful for it's own good.

No need for spec savers. My friend who has the 46" Sharp also has a 1080P DLP Projector on a 9' screen, 2 X 50" Panasonic Plasma's and a crappy old 42" Plasma from Noah's ark. We've had the 2 Pana's and the Sharp side by side and they all have things they excel at but overall the Sharp has more Pro's than Con's over the Plasma's.

We used Sky SD/HD, Freeview, DVD, Blueray, Avi's and DivX's plus PC output to see how they handle browsing..

Optical express then ? ;)

What sort of pana plasmas were they, old school ones, or the later PX70/PZ70, or new PX/PZ 80. What was the bigger list of cons that the sharp had, interested to hear as Ive never seen one in action..

The truth is LCD can be as good if not better overall than Plasma.

That's where we differ in our opinions, nothing can come close to the 'Kuro', it really does make all other brands of TV look very average indeed, even though it isn't 1080p.

TH-50PZ80
TH-50PZ85

The older panny tvs were the PX70 37,42, and 50 inch, with the PZ being 42, and 50. The new PZ80/85 only come in 42 and 46inch.

the distance is around 5 foot max, and looking to purchase in the next week/two

I would really reconsider that screen size if I were you. The picture will look like absolute ass that close, and you'd probably have to turn your head to see the sides of the screen!

Tbh you'd be pushing it with a 42" at the distance unless you're running 1080p all the time.

If I only had 5ft I'd consider getting a 37" plasma or possibly 40" LCD.

Yeh I realised that today at work when someone asked for a 50" PZ85!

You get the 80/81/800 in 50" though.
