Going to the cinema...

Never done it. Whenever my girlfriend goes to the toilet I always feel quite awkward sitting there alone :(

Maybe one day :)

last time i went with the missus she snaked off to the loo and i moved seats

it was pretty funny sitting at the back watching her scratching her head

i told her there would be repercussions if we watched the one she wanted to see!

on a serious note though

i have been many a time on my own

its better because you can just sit there and concentrate completley on your own
plus if there are any noisy kids there and you go beserk at them on your own - they might think you are a bit of a dangerous MF and shut up

Crap picture quality, crap sound quality, sticky floors, uncomfortable seats, charvers, overpriced, crap food, can't pause it to go to the toilet, can't smoke\drink and you have to travel to God knows where.

I simply can't understand why people still bother when 40"+ Hi Def TV's and surround sound systems can be bought so cheaply.

Hate cinemas. Just wish they'd release movies straight to DVD.

Last time I went with the missus, we ended up watching a crap film.

Since then, I wouldn't be bothered about going on my own to see a film, if it was something that I wanted to see.

I have never been on my own in the past though.

i do agree with some of what you've said, but where I am the picture and sound is good. thou i can't understand why the price of the ticket and food/drink is so high thou, so when i go i always take food in;)

I agree, though the only reason I do go occasionally is to see a film I really want to and it hasn't come out on DVD or the internet*coff* yet. It's expensive which is why I stick to orange Wednesdays and take a friend. As for food, I make sure I take a coat or trousers with large pockets so I can take my own food. Going really early in the day also helps with less crowding

Some films seem funnier when watched with an audience of people.

Ever found that?

No, because most of the audience usually has a crap sense of humour and laugh at anything to point it becomes annoying. It's why I'll never watch a "comedy" again at the cinema

Who said anything about a comedy? ;)

I thought the audience (who were nearly all my mates) made Rambo x10 funnier.

Hence the "" around comedy. I'd rather not hear anyone laughing at an inappropriate moment just cos they got the maturity of a 7 year old. Rambo included. I admit the violence was comical but they are not LOL moments which belong in a proper comedy

I think the cinema make their money with the food. You can get a bag of popcorn for 80p ish at supermarket.

I'm going to start going on my own now, love the atmosphere of the big screen and loud sounds. Better when going in the day time, get the cinema to yourself, so no one to annoy me!

I prefer going on my own so I don't end up forking out on lots of expensive food for the whole gang!

Generally speaking, I very much enjoy going to the cinema, however I hate the general public that are there too.

I'm pretty much a regular at the London FrightFest festival every August, and spending a whole weekend constantly watching movies with an audience like that really shows you what the cinema should be like. No young chavs, no fat women screaming on mobile phones, no children shouting, no ****holes kicking your seat. Just hundreds of like-minded people getting into the movies and having a good time. Last year, they showed "The Devil Dared Me To", one of the funniest movies I've ever seen and it was a truly amazing experience seeing it with an audience like that.

It's also funny how in your general multiplex cinemas these days, ticked prices have gone through the roof, yet advertising before the films has increased tenfold too. Last time I went, I timed 20 minutes of TV advertisements (mostly for cars), and 5 minutes of film trailers. Takes the ****.

dont mind too much going by myself as long as there isnt chavs munching/talking throughout the movie.

coz then i just get tempted to put a foot in their face...and mr policeman doesnt like that....
