All guitarists - now this is a bargain.

Can you only use this to record with the line6 software or can it be used with other programs like audacity as well? I noticed the ux2 (larger version with more inputs, phantom power etc) comes with a version of Ableton so thought this might apply to gx too?

It should work seamlessly with your recording software but I don't know about Audacity.
You just choose Line 6 from the input on the track.
My bass player has just bought one and he won't shut up about it.
He's now an ex Guitar Rig user.

Really? Out of interest what does he find better about the GX? I'm a big fan of Guitar Rig, but that's probably because I've got a good bank of sounds that I'm happy with and used to.

He has major latency problems and nothing he's done can cure it because its software based.
He also found it hard to get the sounds he wants where he turned on the GX and there they were.
He can't afford around £199 for the full version of Guitar Rig when his demo runs out.
If he wants more sounds he can get 3 Model Packs for £49 which makes a grand total of £88.

Is he absolutely sure the latency is software based? Reason I ask is that I'm using Guitar Rig 2 via my X-Fi Elite Pro with the ASIO driver set at 2ms and there's no discernable latency at all. I guess the spec of the host PC might make a difference though - mines an Opteron 175 system.

If he can get all he wants for £88 he must be well chuffed! :)

1 - He's been on loads of forums for help, downloaded latest ASIO's and doesn't get very far. He has a P4 3.2 system.

2 - All he wants is to put his Gibson Flying V through a Marshall stack with no toys - what more could anybody want:)

im sure even if the effects are naff your still getting a DI input for a pc/laptop for the price u cant go wrong, theres tonnes of other amp emulator software you could use this input with.

Ok, bought one. Ordered on Sunday, arrived Tuesday (this) morning. Been messing around since finishing work. Me likes so far. I found a tone which is called 'Dimebag Darrell - Broken' in the library bit on it. It is nice. High five.
I made this quickly using the free program Audacity...http://rapidshare.com/files/111377172/bingobongo.mp3.html
...lead and rythym are same tone though!
So anyway, yup, cheers for that dmpoole!

Shame, they had very reasonably priced equipment and one of the very few shops in London that had slightly more exotic brands on offer - for example Schecter stuff..

I usually just connect the lineout of my Spider II directly to my X-fi's line in and record that way. Sounds pretty good to me

Fine if you have a decent amp and a soundcard, sadly I have neither. This thing is basically an external soundcard that requires no amp - perfect for me as I don't have a band and am only really interested in recording songs to amuse myself.
