Meh, Conan is one of the better late night show hosts. But most of you are idiots for claiming american humour is crap based on that. The difference between the comedy on a DAILY show thats been going on for years and years, and a writen in advance loads of time spent on it sitcom of any kind is immense. THey simply don't have time to write the best stuff or make every single thing they do the funniest thing ever.
Most of the best comedies, film and tv is made in America so claiming they have no sense of humour is clearly a completely ridiculous thing to say. Canadians have a much more , errm, quirky sense of humour in their films and tv in general. THough they have some comedy gold, Corner Gas is pretty decent, then I think this show was called "Made in Canada" though not sure, it was pretty much genius. Wonderfalls has a definate Canadian feel to it and is an excellent comedy/drama though it might count as American.
Comedy based on tv, there are a heck of a lot more good comedies from the states than from the UK even taking into consideration the size of population. Theres way more than 4/5 good shows for every UK comedy.
Anyway, in this context, its like comparing Red Dwarf to, I dunno, what do we have as a daily show, Jonathon Ross though take into account if he had to do it every single night it would be worse than it is now.
While Letterman was a semi decent host a decade ago, he hasn't been good for 7-8 years at least. Watch it now and then if I'm cooking something late night and need something to watch, he doesn't even bother anymore, he barely asks questions, dull boring questions and standard stuff when he used to be interesting and a "real" interviewer. Leno, Letterman, Conan, none of them try at all anymore they are stupendously rich making shows at a time of night with no competition so even crap get massive ratings.
however, the ****ing Matt Damon stuff Conan did was pretty damn funny, search for something along those lines on the Tube.
