I think Vista haters are full of poo

I have downloaded SP1 5 times now and each time it has somehow become corrupt???

3 times for Vista64 and twice for 32 and of all the things, but nothign ever gets corrupted and has not done for years except for the Vista Service Pack to be corrupted 5 times, seems a tad weird and even suspect???

Im not going to bother re-tryign Vista on my main PC until I get a good copy of SP1

Im not going to bother re-tryign Vista on my main PC until I get a good copy of SP1

thats why i dont like it, im still waiting for SP1 to show up on my windows update, as if i DL and install the 700mb one for x64 i get constant BSOD.

Horizontal span was no longer needed in WDDM because the way the desktop is drawn with the desktop compositor means that you can quite literally resize a video (or whatever) to take up all your screens + yadda yadda

So why can't I stretch my FS9 window?

Just installed Vista x64 and it's giving me no end of problems. Internet works then doesn't work, eg browsed youtube fine last night, now can't access the youtube website, even though I can on my laptop. BF2 pings are 20+ ms higher than xp, same hardware, and there are massive lag spikes which microsoft are doing nothing about. The lag spikes are also affecting downloading files, the network traffics goes to zero for a split second every 30-60 seconds. So frustrating, lost packets etc.

Wireless usb is Dlink DWL-G122. Can someone recommend a wireless usb that is 100% compatible with x64?

I have Vista x64 and its amazingly fast. Vista actually ran better than XP on my old crappy machine aswell (Pentium D 3.0GHz, 1 GB Ram, Geforce 6200) i still like XP but i find Vista faster, easier to configure (with printers and networks etc...) and easier to use (I particularly like the search functions). Its also a nicer interface but that matters less to me as im not really a bloke who likes fancy looking GUIs (but it helps :)).

I've had Vista for months now and all these bull crappy problems people keep going on about have not arisen not even one. People keep saying you probably don't do anything with it. I mainly Brows the net watch TV and BlueRay movies and play the latest games. I've suffered 0 issues no slow down issues not incompatibility issues, no blue screens no software refusing to run I mean no problems at all. So when I see or read people running it down I have no idea what they are talking about.

Never had any issues here either - Ultimate x64 SP1.

The odd few programs have been incompatable with Vista x64 (e.g. PeerGuardian) but there are ways round every incompatibility - either installing it a different way, finding an x64 version or even finding a better program all together (I now use BLM & ipfilter.dat with uTorrent instead of PeerGuardian which means the block list doesn't clash with any other program as it only runs with uTorrent ;))

I much prefer the way in which Vista uses my 4GB RAM as well. First startup of Firefox, Outlook, Internet Explorer etc. is now instant as it's all already loaded in the memory.

I have Vista but sometimes I regret getting the 64 bit version due to some driver issues. Sure there are work arounds - but I'd prefer not to have to "Work around" :p

Also, some games become a problem :(

The no1 reason why windows vista update does not pick up sp1 is if you have older drivers which the vendors are still working with ms on updating them so ms decided to make windows update detect these offending drivers and not offer sp1 as a download. You can still however download it and in most cases it will work fine. For 32bit it is approx 448MB for the 5 languages SP1 download.

Creative drivers (surprise surprise:o) for audigy + audigy2 + sblive is one of the biggest reasons sp1 gets blocked from downloading on windows update. Yet I got sp1 via MS direct download and installed with no issues whatsoever. It is just an overkill tactic from MS as a few months ago they were getting bombarded with SP1 issues (like the corrupt servicing stack update) so decided to go cautious instead of their usual open public beta test tactics!

The only reall issue I have with vista is Kaspersky takes so damn long to scan on it. Although thats not even MS problem, its kasperskys. I've had the odd slow down now and again with 2GB but overall I'm impressed.

I really like Vista, my install has been perfect for months.

Infact I don't think I've had any issues with Vista for nearly a year, I have reinstalled a few times just because I like to when I upgrade PC parts and so on. (and sometimes it is nice to have that fresh PC)

Currently very happy with my build, got lots installed/organized and it's running perfect.

I haven't bothered upgrading anything to Vista yet , though I would let you people bug test it for me first :D

To be honest until something comes along that makes me want to upgrade to Vista I won't bother.

;)

Yeah I was holding off for a while, but I bought a DirectX10.1 graphics card so had to install Vista to take advantage of it. It's not horrible really, just has a different way of doing a lot of things. Service Pack 1 seems to be quite a bit nicer than the RTM build I played about with before.

I've gone back to xp. Vista is sh-ite in a whole load of areas that you don't think about until you try them. Basically online gaming is a big no no with vista lag issues and I couldn't be arsed trying to find a workaround for a fundamental issue like this.
