War on terrorism? or war for oil?

I have been reading up on them, i have been reading up on quite a few alternative energy systems and solar one did come up.

I never said that was low maintenance, but i think you underestimate the maintenance of most alternative energy.
Peopel over estimate it in comparison to oil. Which is what I'm comparing it to.
Solar based energy systems such as this, are only feasible for countries near the source, since electricity doesn't transport efficiently, then it does leave a problem for countries not near the source of the power.
At the moment is inefficient. Due to the national grid being so old.
Focusing on Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, they say, Europe should build a new high-voltage direct current electricity grid to allow the easy, efficient transport of electricity from a variety of alternative sources. Britain could put in wind power, Norway hydro, and central Europe biomass and geo-thermal. Together the region could provide all its electricity needs by 2050 with barely any fossil fuels and no nuclear power. This would allow a 70% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production over the period.

I am just highlighting it has it's own maintenance that will creep up. And it has its own factors that must be considered. The transportation and storage of electricity from the Desert in the UK is just not feasible, nothing to do with the national grid tbh.

But even then, that is only electricity, in the US alone, only 25% of electricity is created using oil/gas, most is coal, and i think you will find the world over, we use coal, so in relation to dependance on oil, it is almost moot.

That was one example. There's plenty of alternatives for everything. Except air travel at the moment.

But believe what ever you want. I'll sit here and enjoy live, in the knowledge that nothings going to collapse around us.

Plenty of alternatives is a huge stretch.

TBH i was never worried, but when i have kids i will be worried for them, because it will collapse around them. When global warming takes a hold, it wont matter who has any oil anyway.

A huge stretch? but they've already been researched and demonstrated. But never mind.

It is a huge stretch, there is not plenty, at least not that are feasible, or do the same amount/more damage to the environment than fossil fuels. But never mind. ;)

so for fuel. you have hydrogen, metal, fuel cells(electric or hydrogen), bio fuels(which if farmed right are fine to the environment)

And for national grid you have even more options. So yes there are plenty.

and what about all the other products that need oil to be manufactured?

Recycle.

A lot of oil-based products we can do without anyway. Like a lot of makeup, plastic bags, unnecessary useless figurines, etc. There's also always alternative materials. You have to remember that a lot of plastic/oil goods are made out of such only out of convenience and costs. Where there's a will, there's a way, and the vast majority of manufacturers and such will find the means to do viable alternatives to plastic/oil goods.

Contrary to popular belief and alarmist attitudes, we are not 'doomed' and our lifestyle will not descend back into the dark ages when oil runs out. Yes, evolution of technology and growth will suffer setbacks, but it's only taking one step forwards instead of three like we have been doing ever since the industrial revolution. The depletion of oil slows growth, not set it back.

you can make plastics through plant materials. You can recycle. You can change to alternative materials. Although if you removed the demand for fuel. There will be a lot more oil to play with.

How on earth can you justify passing on our problems onto another country? Can you justify killing 100,000's of people just to keep your car running and your hair waxed? What gives us the right to do this in the first place?

You make me sick.

And what exactly are you doing to improve the situation? Bearing in mind that you too are part of the boot that is on the neck of the third world.

Bio Fuels are nowhere near good to the environment, they indirectly lead to the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere. Any fuel saved by using biofuel is used in the production of biofuel. And we wont even start on the social/political impact it will have.

Metal as a fuel will still cause serious environmental impacts from mining etc. Plus ehhh metal is finite and iirc it is still in a concept stage and hasn't been ran for a long periods in cars etc.

Hydrogen has several issues, such a storage, safety, cold starting, and production. Have they came up with a way to produce Hydrogen without using fossil fuels yet, let alone produce it in the quantities that are needed to power every car on the road.

Electric cars are all very well. But considering we have yet to figure out a good way to replace our current electricity consumption with alternative, renewable energy, then we are a long long long way off replacing all our power stations and petrol stations with renewable energy.

As for there being even more options for electricity, we are still struggling to find any decent ones.

And oil is used for more than electricity and petrol. How about plastic, lubrication, roads......?

we already recycle but still use lots of oil

as for the tat, well yes we can get away without using those as it wont affect day to day life too much but what i`m talking about are things like chemicals, pesticides, etc

You mean pesticides that we would need to create biofuel?

You produce electricity from other sources and fuel cars from other sources and then the oil that we do have goes considerably further for considerably longer.

He's already improving the situation(albeit very very little) by at least acknowledging the problem which as a citizen is about the only power you have. The vast majority in the country are however not. Remember, everyone's responsible for their actions, actions come from thoughts.

Actually, iirc, oil is refined using fractional distillation, so you wont actually save more oil for other things, as the same amount of oil is used, but the by products of diesel and petroleum just wouldn't need to be used, and would probably still just be burned off into the atmosphere. lol the irony eh?

Wrong, wrong , wrong, wrong.

Metal is 100% reusable. Although your right it is in development stage.

Bio-fuels can be good for the enviroment if grown in the correct areas, which isn't happening at the moment.

Electric cars are here as fuel cells are reasonably good these days.

Hydrogen is safe and easy to store. With nuclear or renewable energy it is easy to create.

Anyway time to watch matrix and have a drink.
