Anyone remember POD on Win95?

I remember that game :)

I also remember another PC racer that was one of the first to include a handbrake and drifting.. around the same time as POD I think. The physics were pretty good. Name completely escapes me.

I have the CD, almost got it working but couldn't get textures to work with my graphics card, so everything was white. gave up on it because driving was just impossible. (No textures means you can't tell what all the different surfaces are so it was impossible to navigate.)

Best PC racer ever!

Ahhhh Pod! I played it on my Pentium 200mhz with MMX:D
Ditto! I worked for Apricot Computers at the time and picked up one with a staff discount - still cost a fortune though. It had the original 3DFX Voodoo card in it as well - I remember seeing a demo of Tomb Raider on a 21" monitor and was so blown away that I had to buy a system.

POD was good... I was so envious of a friend with a P166 MMX! The graphics seemed like liquid gold. Would love to see how they look once more!

Anyone remember Megarace Wikipedia link? Sort of the same idea with futuristic racers, but the FMV clips were comedy genius! (Youtube linky). I suppose it takes people of a certain generation to realise how good that looked on a 486, 4Mb RAM, 2x CDROM and ...wait for it... a sound card!

I used to go across the road to my neighbours to play POD, it was brilliant. It and theme hospital and one of the need for speed demos kept me enthralled forever.

Btw - should this thread not be in PC games?

Btw - did you know trackmania is free to d/l using steam atm

If you enjoyed POD - which I did - you will enjoy this

I tried to install Windows 1.0 the other day.... of course it wouldn't work with a 64bit CPU.

Should have seen that coming.
