GeForce 6, 7, 8 cards finally getting new drivers next week

Be a ****** if it was those 174.74's, as those are only WHQL for the 9's, still beta for the rest. :p

Oh just thought, they have to do some drivers, they got to do the PhysX ones don't they, its a driver set they couldn't get out of. :D

AFAIK they don't need to release new graphic drivers for the physx stuff... it uses the CUDA pipeline so they'd just have to release an updated PhysXLoader.dll which handled the physic calls through CUDA rather than sending them to a PPU for processing.

Haha, i can see it now up on the Nvidia website, everyone looking for drivers, and all there is a .dll file which you have to download and manually bang into the drivers your already running, or they may be clever and do it as a .exe so it goes in itself. :D

Of course there will be an installer and they may package it all up with a new driver release...

my point was its not directly tied to the graphic drivers themselves and can be released stand alone aslong as your current drivers support CUDA.

As long as ATI refuse to support anything but Micro$oft OS's I'll be sticking with NV.

(come to think of it, when was the last ATi non-DOS driver update? 2001?)

I know, but we all know Nvidia, they'll do anything to get out of having to drivers for their cards. :D

Only drivers that 6/7/8 series owners have had, have all been leaked 9 series only drivers

But but but but but don't forget, 9 series is really 8 series, 'everyone knows that', so really Nvidia has been churning out drivers for 8 series by the bucketload, in fact it's a pretty ****ing poor show from ATI, I mean they are doing what, 1x set of drivers a month, maybe the odd extra one if we're lucky, whereas all those people with their 8 series, sorry I mean 9 series card, are getting new drivers every 5mins, as for the Vista-only drivers, well, XP is 2001 tech, so really if ATI are still supporting 2001 tech that just means it is we the consumer getting screwed over, they must be laughing all the way to the bank, hahahahaha, churning out the same drivers for the last 7 years with just a new number on it.....

;)

:D guess who went to the nvidia site to look :D
yep me ;)

Nope they lied, 175.16 BETA just released. :D :D

They've got 3 more days. Give them time :). They've had to really work hard to fight off R600  so are swamped into trying to get it right with the upcoming card that will take on the HD4 series from ATI. If ATI hadn't stomped all over the 8800GTX/Ultra and G92 based cards then Nvidia would have monthly drivers out for all series cards and well you know it Loadsa!!!!.............................................. NOT.

I seriously don't know how they can't provide a stupid WHQL driver?. I cringe when I think of the fact that my first top end graphics card (9800Pro) from many years ago has had four driver releases this year and the fifth on the way.

I can't see there being a WHQL set this week, they are supposedly at M$ going through the process, so why would they waste their time sticking another driver up if they going to replace it in a day/couple of days, theres no point. :)

We've been owned imo. :p

:( A glimmer of sunshine only for a big black cloud to take it away :D.

I'm not too fussed about this (thanks to you m8 :)). It's just that I find it ridiculous that my last 4 ATI cards are better supported than my 8800GTX.

Righto, installed the 175.16's then uninstalled them again and gone all the way back to my XG 174.93's. The problem is with all these current 175.xx releases is occasional weird colour-banding on my 8800GTX, and now that I've rolled back they're gone again. No idea what they've changed but the IQ is worse imo.
