Am I the only person who doesn't like football in this country?!

If you tried anything to get out of doing PE at school and were scared to shower along side other boys you probably don't like football.

22 millionaires in a field, fighting over a ball

These sort of comments are what get's me about none football fans.

Yes, well done you can state the damn well obvious, and totally overlook the whole picture.

Football also does an awful lot of good, especially in terms of giving quite a lot of kids something to actually do instead of taking drugs, mugging old ladies, getting into trouble with the law etc, and it gets them off their arses and away from the xbox, pc, tv and so forth.

I hate it!

I hate the culture, the way it takes over, the fact that the idiotic "players" get paid well over the odds when the money could be used elsewhere for industries and services that actually need it.

Really not into football at all.

Couldn't of said it better. I do however enjoy the World Cup, fans are much better. Fans have a lot to do with why I dislike club football

There does seem to be rather a few too many people putting a lot of effort into stating the fact that apparently football is the end of the world and pointless. Why don't you just ignore it then? Get on with overclocking pc's and playing WOW?

I have to say, although I like football as a game (that's what it is at the end of the day) I don't like the fighting that can sometimes happen, cheating, riots, obscene amounts of money circulating the game and the almost circus like coverage of it in the news, especially tabloid newspapers as they make me cringe when i see their back pages.

Can't say i'm a fan of it either, actually playing football is fun though. Does get a bit annoying when you hear about it everywhere you go.

I find it fairly boring to watch. I don't mind watching highlights or big international matches or when England are playing (because I actually know who the people are :p) though.

Playing it is much more fun :).

I just don't like most football fans. When you see a player taking a throw in, the opposing fans behind him are just hurling abuse at him and he can't do a thing about it. If they did that in the street they'd get battered. Worst of all its always adults doing it and the kids see them and start copying meaning the same dreg end type of person is going to continue rearing their ugly head. Its that side of things that I really hate.

The game itself though, can't get enough of it.

Don't watch it but I used to enjoy playing a game. I have a passing interest (ask my brother the results :D) in how the local teams are perfroming but that's probably down to him banging on about it all the time.

Other than that I wouldn't be bothered if I never saw football again in my life.

1. Sweaty men in shorts kissing and hugging, not for me thanks, but whatever floats your boats..

2. 25st 'fans' in their team shirts..just LOL!

3. The knobbers who say 'WE did well last night...', WE? Since when did you play any football, you couldn't run a bath never mind the length of a pitch.

4. The local Sunday league clowns who splutter about sweating, gasping and coughing phlegm up everywhere and yelling obscenities for the miserable looking kids and their mums forced to go and watch them.

5. And the absolute favourites, the 'You're gay if you don't like footie' mob. (See point 1, got denial?)

Can't say I'm a fan. :)

My favourite thing is the way THEY ALL CHEAT, ALL THE TIME.

If you were in a fight in the street, and you threw yourself to the ground clutching your alice band and crying, all your mates would disown you, but some italian mincer does it every time some dude off the other time goes near him and you all think he's amazing.

Cheating poofters, the lot of them.

p.s I've always maintained that I'll start watching football if they introduce multi-ball, jetpacks, balls that randomly change shape every few minutes, multi-team matches, hidden trapdoors, snipers, and big pinball flippers on the goals.

This thread is full of queers. I know its been said already but it has to be said again.

The comments about them being paid to much when people who are trying to cure cancer are getting nothing. Put the doctor in a stadium, fill it with 60000 people and then maybe they'll be paid the same.

Do you begrudge other companies for paying too much?

Football is my favourite thing in the whole world, without doubt. Sometimes it upsets me, some times it makes me the happiest guy in the world. Watching England with a group of close mates, going though the typical highs and lows of a tournament, its male bonding at its best!

Why do people never moan about musicians being paid so much or movie stars?

UP THE GUNNERS

Typical non football fan quote. Watch it and you'll see they don't cheat all the time. Some players dive sure but most will not.

I've been to a gig where he band mimed! Oh my god, all bands are rubbish. I hate all music and the only way they can make me listen to it again is if they introduce flying otters playing the guitar whilst dancing round a maypole. Stupid isn't it?

This is why opinion shouldn't be allowed on this forum

what i hate is the dedication to a team they have no connection with and will cry when that team loss, or at least get very upset. why? why support a team lets say liverpool, who's majority of players are not from liverpool and are only there for the money . ?

supporting a football team isn't supporting your city no more, people who support a football team are supporting a business, you may as well put on a hitachi t shirt and stand outside hitachi hq and cheer them on for the nice extra points they made in the stocks.

its mass brainwashing propogated by the mass media , supported by corporations.

people scream their head soff when a football team scores, i understand the players happiness, they are getting a nice bonus that's going towards paying for their 5th holiday villa, but when standard football supporting joe screams with happiness, what's he really happy about? what does he get in real terms?

well, he gets to cough up hundreds of pounds every season for the joy of watching big buinsess battle it out on a field.

simply put, football is a con.

I've recently begun to liken footballers - indeed most sportspeople to 'warriors'.

If you think about it, they train almost everyday to keep themselves on top form, so that they can play 90+ of exhausting work to entertain us.

The amount of mental and physical rigour that goes into each of those players is astounding and I defy anyone to say otherwise.

That, however, does not justify the amount of money they get paid in comparison to, say, doctors, or law enforcement.

Most fanatical support of a team is built over a long period of time - you pick a team who you like and want them to win. Over time that desire for them to win increases. It never was about supporting your city. I guess you don't get elated when England wins (haha) at the football. Just another one of these people who try to ruin it for those who do care.

Move along.

Warriors? Give me a break.

Sure they keep fit, but when you're facing a multi-million pound salary that's sure as hell enough motivation wouldn't you say?

Bring back Gladiatorial arena combat, to the death and televised, and maybe - just MAYBE - I'd actually back somebody out of true admiration for their skill and deem them a "warrior".

To those asking why we aren't complaining that movie stars etc. get paid too much - that's because it's not the focus of this thread. FYI, yes they do.

The British infatuation with football and the "celebrity" it entails just shows how braindead the majority of the population is.

As far as "those who don't care ruining it for those who do" goes, try explaining exactly WHY you do care, instead of merely lambasting those who don't. Is there some cosmic reasoning we're not aware of?

This thread is hilarious, polar opposites :D

"Football is the best thing since Jesus and everyone else is wrong and gay and hasn't got a clue"

"Football is gay and boring and I have no idea why people get so fanatical about it and most footballers and fans are morons"

Then you have people like me who enjoy a good game yet aren't fanatical and don't memorise every player in the league and I get told people like us are despised for not being "real, dedicated supporters" willing to lose sleep, blood, sweat and tears every time our preferred team is in dire straights :D

I didn't realise it was compulsory to either LOVE football or HATE football and that middle ground or passing interest was forbidden.
