Conspiracy theories...

Not sure if it's classed as a conspiracy theory, but came across this the other day;

The Great Pyramid

# Only a solid stone mountain could endure the Pyramid's immense weight. And indeed, a flat solid granite mountain happens to be located just beneath the surface of the ground directly under the Pyramid.

# It is built to face true North.

# The Pyramid is located at the exact center of the Earth's land mass. The odds of it's having been built where it is are 1 in 3 billion.

# Amazingly, the outside surface stones are cut within 0.01 (1/100th) inch of perfectly straight and at nearly perfect right angles for all six sides. And they were placed together with an intentional gap between them of 0.02 inch. Modern technology cannot place such 20-ton stones with greater accuracy than those in the Pyramid.

#The height of the Pyramid's apex is 5,812.98 inches, and each side is 9,131 inches from corner to corner (in a straight line). If the circumference of the Pyramid is divided by twice its height (the diameter of a circle is twice the radius), the result is 3.14159, which just happens to be pi.

# Each of the Pyramids four walls, when measured as a straight line, are 9,131 inches, for a total of 36,524 inches. At first glance, this number may not seem significant, but move the decimal point over and you get 365.24. Modern science has shown us that the exact length of the solar year is 365.24 days.

# The average height of land above sea level (Miami being low and the Himalayas being high), as can be measured only by modern-day satellites and computers, happens to be 5,449 inches. That is the exact height of the Pyramid.

# All four sides of the Pyramid are very slightly and evenly bowed in, or concave. This effect, which cannot be detected by looking at the Pyramid from the ground, was discovered around 1940 by a pilot taking aerial photos to check certain measurements. As measured by today's laser instruments, all of these perfectly cut and intentionally bowed stone blocks duplicate exactly the curvature of the earth. The radius of this bow is equal to the radius of the Earth. This radius of curvature is what Newton had long been seeking.

I think conspiracy theories like to believe in the Illuminati and other world orders because otherwise their other conspiracy theories unravel.

For instance, if man didn't go to the moon and it was all a big US government hoax then the USSR would have known because it had the capability to detect it, and the USSR would have made this known, except if theres a secret order controlling everything and they were in it together!

*TINFOIL HAT*

With regards to the moon landings, the vehicles were designed and constructed by third parties external to the government and the entire project employed something like 100,000 people at its peak. If you were faking the moon landings you would have to tell all these people, otherwise they'd have built everything believing they it was going to the moon so they would have made them work, in which case whats the point in faking it?

This thread is great. :D I love all the justifications for why there isn't any evidence for the conspiracies too, so that belieiving the conspiracy theories is like a religious leap of faith.

*cough* magick you're still dodging the question in the other thread about whether sentient reptiles are ruling humans.

Great pyramid snipe

That's mind boggling, its construction also. The inch is quite significant in that theoryso I looked up on wiki the origins and found there was a pyramid inch, very very close to the modern inch!! <:] Where's my foil...

Tefal you'r like an osterich with it's head in the sand.

You won't hear about the illuminati in the mainstream media period because directly and indirectly the media are owned by the illuminati. Secondly the mainstream media only employ people with certain political bias and outlook on life, people such as yourself being one example.

Thirdly if a journalist for the BBC did decide to write a story about NWO or Illuminati the editor wouldn't air it as such disclosure could well lead to riots and mass revolts, and also the journalist would probably be fired.

Lastly, there secrecy has been comprimised for many decades though it's only through the internet that it's started to become known by a wider group.

And now some people on forums on the internet have uncovered their secrets! Gosh! What ever will they do! They've been rumbled!

Take a step back. You're no more informed about any of this than anyone else is, and yet 99% of people (including those far more rational and logical in their approach to these things than most) would say you're talking rubbish. This, to me at least, would indicate that you are, in fact, talking rubbish.

The reason people aren't up in arms about this is not because no one knows; everyone has heard of the Illuminati, they just think it's a load of crap (at least in their supposedly current incarnation).

I used to be into conspiracy theories when I was in my teens and much more of a nerd than the geek I am today... especially into stuff like the New World Order, based on Satan, barcodes have 666 in them, many corporate logos have snakes/evil symbols in them etc etc.

Nowadays I am more cynical, because I have learned of something - human incompetence. If government agencies can screw up important policies, decision making and general theory over what our society is all about, I highly doubt they have the organisational capacity to produce large scale conspiracies that last a couple of years.

The true conspiracies are ones that exist in the open and no-one discusses or are simply completely ignorant of, and as our understanding of society and sociology increases, work them out. Some of these effects are purely emergent - for example, the tragedy of the commons accounts for a great deal, without any actual top-down organisational control.

It's all just a façade, duh

It's funny because say the conspiracy theories are real, and someone uncovers evidence proving they're real, no one would believe them because we're all so used to hearing total nutcases spouting off about them in a completely illogical way.

So in effect, if there is a world order or whatever, you conspiracy nuts are their greatest defence!

do the slightest bit of research on the net and there's a tonne of evidence supporting the existance of the nwo/illuminati.

still dodging that question...

And surely that fact is a massive piece of proof against the ilumionati?

You also haven't answered why such an orginisation would allow such a system as the internet to develop.

As after all the nuclear war reason is void with such a world order.

I'm sure if you did a tiny bit of research on the internet you would find a tonne of evidence that Elvis is still alive and well but that doesn't make it true!

Maybe that's the point actually. If you just do 'the slightest bit of research' you're doing a very good job. If you want to understand something properly you need to do a lot of research from many different sources!

Whenever I've met someone who's had doubts about the moon landings for example it's because they saw some TV program with all the half baked ideas. They never bothered to actually think about the stupidity of what was being said or the basic secondary school level science that would be needed to completely rule out all of what the conspiracy theory suggests.

People who can't be bothered to think about a subject properly are very easy to lead. People who can't be bothered to think about a subject properly yet still have strong opinions on it are idiots.
