7800GTX Gone Bang.

Bought two of these babies on release £400 each for SLi and they have been really great cards.

They are both BFG with lifetime warranty. One of them has gone bang, the other still works.

What do you think I will get in return considering that the 7800GTX is eol, and I did buy two for SLi ?

They will proberbly send you something like an 8600GT.

That'd be a bit gutting, it would offer lower performance and completely wreck the sli setup.
Push for better!

The SLi setup is completely wrecked anyway with one going bang, its one of the downsides of SLi when the cards are long out of production, yer kiss SLi goodbye.

have to flog the remaining 7800 GTX, as that has become useless now, as he's not going to be able to pair it with his replacement, so sell the replacement as well (depending on what you get), and buy a faster single card.

i had the exact same as above, they sent me back a 7900GTX OC so i have one 7800GTX OC sat in the box!

Send it back, see what you get. I can always flog you my other for peanuts lol

It's very easy to buy a matching secondhand card off an auction site...

BFG sent me a brand new 8800GTS OC today..... I just bought a brand new OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS Extreme 512MB yesterday...will I be able to SLi these even though they are different makes ?

Yes, just make sure you put the faster one in the primary slot, as it downclocks to match the speeds of the other one, and thats some huge boost in performance your going to.

Do you have to send them to another country? & I assume you have to pay postage? I will be going either EVGA or BFG in the future if they both have lifetime warranties

Indeed if they sent a 320/640 I don't think they can be sli'd with a g92.

They sent me a 640MB, but to be quite honest I wasn't using the 7800GTX, I'd already upgraded to a G92 GTS. I can give this card as a pressie to someone.

I had to pay the postage , £3.22 recorded delivery, wrapped in bubble wrap in an envelope with receipt, they sent it back FedEx.

With that out of the way, I'm looking forward to a GTX280

Pretty sweet card to get in return for a 7800GTX, you maybe don't need it anymore but it's an alright spare or it'll sell for more than the 7800 would. Could have been worse.
