Hmm you misunderstand, what I mean is that in direct comparison terms, for example comparing the 360 gpu to it's pc equivalent say the x1800xt, a console version of the game will generally run smoother than the pc counterpart. No o/s running in the background lower res's etc etc.
A notable example was Deus ex invisible war, the original xbox had a geforce 3 which would have got you about 2 fps in the pc version. Also console games are generally better optimised as the myriad of configurations pc's have do not have to be taken into account.

anyway not surprised that the 360 version runs better, most 360 versions of multi platform games look a bit better. Regardless of this, kudos to ms for releasing games with an emphasis on quality rather than eye candy, FM2 over GT5 being the most striking example.

But in all seriousness who takes either IGN or Gamespot seriously anymore? I prefer to use sites such as Metacritic.com to show an overall opinion especially now that there is money involved these days (advertising deals etc).

Back on topic the case for the ps3 version is nicer maybe that's why IGN preferred the ps3 version.
