Well the time has come around again for this years trip to the mighty Nurburgring  7 of us are going in total, the vehicals going are my Astra, a Civic Tyre R, a Suzuki GSXR 1000, and an Aprilla RSV MILLE

Ferry leaves Newcastle this evening, so we'll get to Amsterdam first thing tomorrow morning. A quick stop for some local supplies for the trip then a 4 hour drive down to the campsite right beside the track. Will get a few laps in on tomorrow evening and then 2 full days Sunday and Monday. Pack the tents up Tuesday morning and head back to Amsterdam for the ferry that night and arrive back in Newcastle Wednesday morning.

Cant wait to get back and experiance that track again, it truely is awesome. Will be looking for a sub 10 min lap this time round in my Astra. Last time was our first time there and I only managed about 6 laps during the visit. This time I'll be looking for between 15-25 laps over the 2 and a half days so hopefully I'll be able to shed off 23 seconds from my quickest time last year.

Will take plenty of pics when I'm over and hopefully a couple of full lap vids and post them up when we get back. It's expected to be a busy weekend so there should be plenty off exotic cars to drool over

24 seconds, surely? ;) Good luck.

Ok ok 24 secs :p

It's only an Astra, so if you bin it you can take the plates and run....
Good luck :D

Was a couple of binned cars last year including a rolled volvo estate  I'll be trying my best not to bin it though, don't fancy the nice bill you get back at the office if you do!!

It will be pretty interesting this weekend - a lot of people are going from passionford. Have a good time and be careful!

Yeh noticed that over on the Ringers forum. There's also a GTR owners club there this weekend so should be plenty of good photos :)

I'll like to see the video as well ;)

Well a vid from the RSV wont be a problem as he's got a bullet cam mounted in his headlight where the sidelight should be :D As for mine I'll be trying my best to get a full lap recorded this time, only got about 7mins worth last year.

Only four hours drive at the other side...?

No excuse really.

*calls dad*

Yeh it's not a long drive from the ferry port so no excuse not to get yourself there, you'll not be disapointed ;)

I did this last weekend from southampton, crossing dover-calais then down, hope the weather is as good for you as it was for me, and you don't get too many closures. On the Sunday afternoon it was closed twice due to accidents, the 2nd one they had to get a helicopter in to recover a motorcyclist who'd had a disagreement with a porsche.
Good luck getting your times down too :)

I did this last weekend from southampton,

We might have walked past each other... I was also there last weekend (Channel tunnel out on the Friday, and back on the Tuesday).

Only 2 of us went this time in my car (M5) but had fun as always! I was also there over Easter weekend with a bigger group when it was snowing... and the snow actually made it more interesting... I'd not worry too much about the weather.

You might have seen our cars, there was a volvo 960 fitted out like the ghostbusters car, satellite dish on the roof, bookcase, pipes etc. A rover 620 with lots of tape on it trying to be an F14 and my scirocco with various words in electrical tape.

Have a good time and be careful getting that lap time, will hopefully be out there at the end of the year with some luck.

Sounds good, pictures please:D

Don't want to spam up someone else's thread, but here's a pic of the volvo, was an awesome car.

awesome pics, reminds me of kitchster_uk stag do with our '80s sports car challenge. Anyway I won't drive the thread any further off topic.

Well I'm back in one piece, just!!!!

Excellent trip, red hot weather and plenty of beers  Cars seen better days tho, absolutly no front brakes left, pads are down to the metal and disks are scored and warped so new set is on order!

Had a few hairy moments, got a big fishtail slide and was up over the kerb and on the grass but managed to recover it before going into the barrier, and on a hot lap I managed to do a full 360 spin and ending up on the grass verge  Fortunatly no damage at all to the car either time. Unfortunatly tho, Richy who was on his RSV Mille managed to lowside and slide himself and his bike down the track. Was only a low speed slide so damage to his bike was only cosmetic and he seems fine.

Was a public holiday over the weekend so the track was stupidly busy so the sub 10 min lap never came. Track was closed about 6 times on the Saturday and about 4 or 5 times on Monday due to crashes, so when it was open everyone was out at the same time. On the laps that I did time I got another 10.23 with loads of hold ups, and on the lap I spun it I managed a 10.25. Got a full lap on video but didn't time it so when I get round to watching it I'll time it then but dont think it was that quick as I had no brakes at all for that lap!!

Will get the pics off my camera and get them posted as soon as I get a chance.

Now its the long wait till next years trip to do it all over again :D
