Star Wars KOTOR (warning: spoilers)

Thats quality,

Commentary : It is not possible to destroy the master, it is suggested that you run while i charge up my lasers. Meatbags.

Translation: 2% probability that the minature organic is simply looking for trouble and needs to be blasted. That may be wishful thinking on my part, master.

lol

1st video- Why KoTOR is epic, and probably the best game I have played to date.
3rd video- HK-47 just owns. There is no other word for it.

I've recently run through this game once again, this time on a total powergaming mission.

As far as character development and general storyline go (the 'twist') this game is unsurpassed.

I've got KOTOR2 sat on the shelf (and it has been for a while), I can't work up the energy to play it through because I can't see how it can be better than the original.

different storyline, different characters, levels etc etc etc

KotOR IIs gameplay is better. I especially like the 'influence' system with your party members. While its storyline is decent, its not up to the mark set by KotOR I.

I agree with the better gameplay of 2, its just a shame that it totally bugged up for me, I couldnt get out of the Ice place after the Hks shoot you down :(

KotOR was a brilliant game. I remember when I first played it, I didn't know anything about it and wasn't expecting anything... needless to say I got a nice surprise :D Its pace, storyline and general direction made it play almost like a movie.

KotOR 2 was nowhere near as good IMO. The characters where not as memorable or as well developed as the first game. The overall feel of the game was more repressed, but I suppose this was the intention of the developers.

However the Star Wars movies weren't like that. Bioware understood that when they made KotOR, the dark-side was about power and hunger and giving into anger. Emperor Palp etc.

Whereas Obsidian took a completely different look at the dark-side and made it absolutely ******* depressing. Some might say it was good, but IMO its just not right for Star War.

Its hard to explain, does anyone else understand what the hell I'm talking about? lol. The game just made me depressed. It didn't capture the Star Wars feel at all.

The really annoying thing is that KOTOR2 does actually do a few things very well:

-Influence system with a lot of extensive conversations (let down by some poor continuity and cyclicity)
-Splitting your party to fight on multiple fronts - this is great as it gives you a chance to use some of your lesser characters instead of just sticking with the same 3 or 4.
-Can't remember exactly but there was definitely an enhancement to the combat/ui that I liked.

KOTOR on the other hand really nailed the storyline and characterisation. In terms of pure gameplay mechanics it arguably isn't as good as the original, but the overall feel is of a better game due to that.
