Hello all.

many of you know my music production interests.

Now im looking at speaker setups. and monitor setups, currently i have 2 x KRK VXT8's

They produce some seriously mindblowing stuff. everything is clear as day, great freq response. and also push out some superb low end to shake the entire house, but i want a subwoofer, dont question i just do!

Been looking at a KRK sub, now i'm just wondering how would i wire a sub up to? would i have to upgrade my pro-tools interface?

Specs of Pro-tools interface:

I've just had a look at the manual on the web page.

Seems the sub uses the main outs from the soundcard, then chained up to the main stereo speakers using its outputs. Therefore you should be able to keep your stereo set up in PT, and all the frequencies that the sub can produce will do so along with the woofer of the VXT8's. Then i believe you should adjust the gain for the acoustics of the room to get a good balance. :)

Edit:

But the main stereo bus from the mixer is equivalent to your master outputs on your soundcard. The fact that you have extra outputs may also be benificial for other routing purposes.

Superb, woofer here you come!

thankyou mate.

Nice, i just want more bass, i have plenty already but i want the floor to shake when a kick drum is beat.

This is what you want then :

I
how costly for your rig then dm

£675 for the tops (new)
£410 each for a pair of the subs (shop soiled)
£500 for a pair of subs (secondhand)
£250 for the DBX Driverack which controls Crossoving/EQ/Compression/limiting/Anti feedback etc.

Total : £2,245

I've also just bought a pair of 600 watt 15" fullrange cabs and an amp to drive them for foldback so we can actually have the drums going through them on stage.

I gotta question the suggestion of some Mackie PA gear for music production :p

:)
It could be a bit overkill.
