Hi there,

Flying to Majorca on Saturday with my boyfriend. We have always shared one suitcase and it has never been an issue.
I went to pick up the tickets etc. from the travel agents on Saturday and she asked why we only had one suitcase down on the flight booking instead of two.
She was adamant that you always have to have a suitcase each because you can't share with anyone, even a partner, incase you packed something dodgy for them.

I have checked the JET2 website and can't see anything about having to have a case each. We have no need for 2 cases and I don't see why I should pay extra for another bag.

Any ideas if she is correct or if one case will be fine?

Thanks

Don't know about JET2 but I flew to Palma (from Stansted) with a mate last week and we shared a suitcase in order to avoid paying another rip-off £18 and we had no problems at all

I am fairly sure I have shared suitacases on family holidays before with other airlines and they are just trying to get money out of you. If I were you, I would print off the t&c on their website, and if they moan about it, just show them that the t&c makes no mention of it.

I know some airlines have this. I think Ryanair is one of them. Not sure about Jet2 and not sure how strict they'd be with this.

When me and the other half go on holiday we take 2 suitcases half my stuff goes in each suitcase and its the same for her stuff. Logic is if one gets lost in transit you still have half your clothes. Never had a problem so I don't know why you would with just taking one.

We got a flight with them last Saturday, and to be honest I think she's wrong.

The terms state :

You must pack the bags yourself.
You are allowed 17Kg per bag (each) and it has to be viable for sending down into the hold. If its unsuitable (ie ruck-sack type) they can refuse to carry it.

The bag can't be over 25Kg for a start. You may be asked to leave it or get rid of stuff if it's more than that.

There is nothing about one bag for two passengers, and what do parents with 4 young children do - think they take 6 cases ? Unlikely - and I've always packed my sons/wife things in my case.
