Any harm in spraypainting a Rad?

I currently have a dual rad in my rig which is UV blue, I really want to spray it a different colour, is that possible without killing it? or hindering performace?

paint is an insulator and will reduce the metal-to-air heat transference.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you shouldn't spray radiators as it will block the air gaps between the fins. Painting the outer shell by hand is OK though.

Yeah clogging the fins was my worry.

I wonder if I blank off the fins and just spray the casing it should be OK.

hmmm...

Or I suppose I could just sell it and get a new one.

Yeah, plenty of people have done this, quick and simple job too, probably a lot less hassle than trying to sell it on and source a new one..

True, sounds like a plan

Thinking about it spraying the case and leaving the fins will actually look quite cool, as the fins will glow behind the fan/grill
