Hi there,
I made a thread about month or two ago about my mothers car having problems. She drives a 2001 Mazda MPV and someone on here said that it could be the SRS and Seatbelt pretensioners problem, my dad said he would get it looked at but its been more than a month and he just hasn't  so I was wondering if it is a problem like that can it only be fixed through a Mazda Dealer or any garage can sort it out?

Thanks.

I'm assuming you mean what the problem is? If so all my mother has told me is that she was driving and suddenly the warning lights on the dashboard came on. The lights that went on has an image of a person sitting there with the steering wheel/or airbag in front of them and one where theres a circle with a person sitting there with a seatbelt on and has a cross over them. She said the car drives fine though, she doesn't want to take it to the dealer to get it looked at if this problem could be sorted at a garage as she said she rather do that as it will be a lot cheaper.

Either a dealer or a decent auto electrician will be able to sort it,

I would go with the dealer as they should have the computers to get to the root of the problem, watch out for the labour costs though.

It may also be a seat sensor issue? There may be a detector in the passenger seat to check if someone's sitting there, that may be playing up.

Yeah will tell my mother to go to a dealer to get it sorted, should be less hassle. How much are labour costs for Mazda Dealers?Or do they vary based on the type of job, etc?
(sorry I'm hopeless when dealing with these kind of things)

Depends on the dealer and location,

I would guess anywhere between £35-£70.

Personally I would go on the Mazda website and call a few of your nearest dealers and check their rates, they can vary significantly.

this could be done by an independant, its not necessarily a dealer job

best bet is to ring the indy you have in mind and ask them if they are able to diagnose such a fault.
