Er no not really there isnt

Did you know that even BMW Bodyshop insurance labour rates are only about £35 an hour?

You mean a specialist, well yeah that is not shocking why do you ask?

Never understood why, they mentioned that they get paid very little, why can't they charge say, £80-100 an hour for a 3rd party claim?

I mentioned Audi as an example, I will assume that the cost for the VW will be at least 2-2.5k, the bare minimum.

*edit* BMW are not the only dealer to charge high prices per hour.

I'm sorry but stop digging a hole, given that audi and VW share largely the same parts bin and the fact it would be fixed by the same people are you trying to tell me than an audi branded airbag is twice the cost, the control modules and wiring will be exactly the same, as will the airbag, all bar the front cover.

 Audi and BMW have the same parts?

I am trying to tell you that getting an Airbag replaced after it has been used by an official Audi dealer will cost around that for an A3, as an example.

Glass's. His car trade books for circa £13k.

for a 07/56 2.0tdi se on 10k parkers says trade book is £12,495 and glass's says £12450, that difference is so massive that I can hardly believe it.

No, I mean BMW themselves (Well, the franchised dealers) not a specialist.

Becuase they wouldnt get insurance approved work, which is where the majority of the money comes from.

Right now I understand.

There are a lot of factors you have to take into consideration when going through insurers.

Did you know for 3/4 curb damage to a wheel some ask for £500, below the excess of some customers and you could get it done way cheaper elsewhere.

I had two alloys/tyres replaced and that came to £1250 including labour and VAT. I could have bought the wheels for about £200 each and tyres for £120 each and got some to fit them for me.

The same can be said about the Airbags, if you knew what to do and who to go to you could get it done way below insurers estimates.

I was just using the Audi as an example. I would be surprised if they don't write this car off as the cost will be near enough the value.

For gods sake stay well away from a Toyota Avensis. I have one as a company car and while it does get me from A to B and have lots of toys, it has probably the most boring interior in the world :( just another year to go and I can get a new car :(

How much will the costs of repair have to be to write it off? Car is worth £15k or there abouts as fox says.

There's 3 factors in the equation -

Pre accident market value
Repair cost
Salvage value

If the salvage value is high, which will be the case here, then that increases the chances of a write-off.
