2 Hour Changeover In London

True ;).. though the OP sounds like he is on a budget. Coaching it and all.. weatherspoons all the way :D Burger and beer under a fiver mm mm

It does sound tempting :p

After reading about abit though I managed to find a single on the train from Lincoln to Swindon at £45. A few quid more expensive but 5 hours quicker!

Cheers for the advice guys and girls, should I ever find myself coaching it i'll know what to do :)

£45 is decent, especially when you're saving 5hours!

National Express is your friend if you are really running on a budget and can no way afford train travel, I will admit that, but the best way to travel is to plan ahead.

Okay, saving 5 hours travelling at a cost of £25? I think I'd be persuaded to take the train too ;)

It's the end of term - it's not suddenly jumped up and made him think 'My god! I need to book travel!'. He's known the date he's leaving for weeks perhaps even months :p

Bradford to Devon:

40 coach
100 train

you do the math..

In all fairness though:

12 hours coach
5 hours train.

Whatever comments about the money don't distract from the fact that the coach is more comfortable, quieter and more chilled than the train and there are almost never scagheads taking drugs, kids running up and down, fat people crushing you or chav slags playing loud rnb on their stolen mobile phones. And you always get a seat. Coaches pwn trains, fact.

Example in case: London to Oxford. Nice shiny coach, comfy seats, air conditioned, polite clientelle, friendly polite well spoke driver who greets you as you board and points out things of interest along the journey and wishes you well as you leave. Sit on coach, relax, arrive chilled.

rent 2 hookers with the money saved by getting a coach.

edit:

i hate trains. i hate trains with a passion. i think though i'd rather take the shorter journey than a longer one. If it was only an hour difference i'd take the coach but 3 or 4 hours i'd have to get on the train and hide in the toilet.

I'd agree with most of that apart from the comfort bit. Unless your a 2 foot midget, a coach, especially a national express coach, is torture. Being 6 foot 4 myself, coaches are nigh on impossible for me to travel on. trains arent much better but usually I can stand up and wander down the carrages if need be.

Pity the weather is taking a turn for the worse else you could have gone to Battersea Park or Hyde Park

To be fair you should have thought about that before you decided to grow that tall. Lack of foresight  youth today :D

even for us mere 6fters its a scenario of bruised knees on buses from the seat infront

Prance around Canary wharf thinking you are an important banker.

Edit: OP is a student, no chance of that :D

I say do a bit of shopping on Oxford street, but don't start throwing drinks on people. Go check out shops in covent garden as it ain't too far away, or pop down to westminster to see the houses of parliment.

Bradford to Devon:

40 coach
100 train

you do the math..

Bradford to Exeter.

Standard Open Single £63
First Class Open Single £92

You do the math ;)

Unless you suddenly wake up one day and think 'I think I'll travel 300 miles today!' then go by train.

Or think outside the box.

Bradford to Leeds, £5
Leeds to Exeter, £23 Advance

£28 total cost. Cheaper than the coach.

<3 Maths.

You are.. using the COACH for this journey? Geez do yourself a favour and get a train, twice as comfortable and half the time.

Coaches serve two purposes:

a) To take Children on school trips
b) To transport old people on holiday

Trains serve 2 purposes...

1) Get pestered by some smelly tramp who wont stop farting and weeing in the corner of the train.
2) Steal all your money and take 9 hours to get anywhere.

Buy a car.

Or travel First. Went to London last week as I said, cost me 25 quid, sat in a leather seat in an empty coach, watched 24 on my laptop and drank free coffee.

My car would have cost about the same in fuel, then I'd have had nowhere to park it, and I'd have had to sit on the M4 and stare at the car in front for hours.

I've got a car - a very nice car by all accounts, but for some trips, the train is just better.

And for some others, it completely sucks. Just got to pick your method wisely.

Coming back home from Uni this Thursday and i've got a 2 hour changeover with my buses in London. Therefore does anyone know of anything interesting to do around Victoria Coach Station? Got a 9 hour journey with no books or magazines so I want something to disperse the boredom.

Anyone know of any cafes or cinemas nearby?

Buy a book or Magazine from the shops near the station!

By booking in advance. Last went to London last Sunday. In First Class. For 25 quid.

Not much use to this bloke now but Fox is right - book in advance and save a shedload of cash! And a train is so much easier most the time, someone drives you and you can sit and read with a coffee and relax.

Why don't you have any books or stuff for the journey OP? Surely a trip to Tesco beforehand will get you two books for £7 - they'll be trash but it's something!
