If only those Hazro's had HDMI and better black levels... *sigh*
The samsung SM-245B is a good one for gaming. The best thing for photo editing in that price range (or closest to it) is the BenQ FP241W. I've got one, it's great for colour reproduction but i've been having issues relating to other areas of it atm. Plenty of satisfied owners though.
Hope that helped.

Remember that black levels are the one draw-back to S-IPS panels, everything else on them blows the competition out of the water.

Also, I don't get why people are so bent on having an HDMI port on a monitor, for one it adds cost to the thing (monitor manufacturer has to pay a royalty for each HDMI port) and secondly it's pin compatible with DVI, so a simple DVI<->HDMI cable does the job. Is there something I'm missing here?

As far as the Dell goes, make sure you've read up about it and are willing to live with the drawbacks (requires calibration due to wide gamut and dreadful input-lag, to the point where dragging windows around the screen shows it up).

As much as it pains me to admit it, I didn't know there was such a cable. You've just sorted out a headache I was having with my Xbox 360 and 2407WFP.

*tips hat*

dvi connections on mointors usaully do not support HDCP (can cost a lot as its made by intel) so can not play downloaded copyright (you just see a blank screen)

items such as SKYHD,ps3,bluray require HDCP to function otherwise it be a copyright infirignment.

HDMI can be slighty better in qaulity and HDMI can Carry sound :)

we work with HDCP at work

hope this helps the above posters

I'm not that keen on switching cables over constantly, or using switch boxes as they can be a real pain sometimes. That's why I'm hoping 1080p through component is good quality...
