Hi guys,

I saw a review the for the Coolermaster Hyper Z600 and it got me thinking - if the z600 can do the Q6600 with ease with only case fans, it must be even better at cooling the e8400 right? im only using defaults no oc'ing.

1. can anyone correct me if im wrong?
2. can anyone tell me where i can get a z600
3. can anyone suggest any suitable alternative PASSIVE heatsinks?

Thanks in advance guys look forward to hearing from ya!

We can't tell you where you can get the cooler as it's against forum rules.

You can get some almost silent coolers that do an extremely good job. Tuniq Tower springs to mind but not sure how good it can passively cool. There is one thing about the Coolermater cooler though. There's no way i would want a 1KG cooler hanging off my motherboard.

Give yourself a slap for not clocking a E8400. :p

oh yeah sorry... that was dumb...

na im looking for something completely passive. n yeah i know what you mean, 1kg is a lot - wouldnt damage the board though would it... and im not oc'ing the e8400 because im using a P965, it cant hack the cpu normally anyway. gunna get a P45 soon as their out.

does anyone know of any other passive cpu coolers that could handle an e8400?

Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B CPU Cooler

The ninja Will easily deal with a stock E8400 with at least 1 case fan and active psu.
when on the P45 board clock it to 4.0 and use the fan supplied

As a rule wide spaced fins for passive/semi-passive air cooling - close spaced fins for performance fan assisted air cooling.

cool thanks for the advice :) im open to other suggestions if any one has any but i think ive made my choice :)

He could always secure it with some cable ties or an old wire coat hanger.

uh huh...
