Lol thread of the year.Ive got a 140bhp Passat diesel at the mo, my god its poor, it has got leather faced seats and a wonderfully crap plastic dashboard, oh and the sunglasses holder wont shut without a hammer.It understeer at every moment.

On the plus side its got lots of space for crap to get lost in, which is usefull, im really struggling to find out why people spend so much money on these cars, I drive a lesser Marque, so I was expecting this to be a paragon of Kraut build quality and Uber-ness.

Oh and to the bloke who claimed it was 5k for one airbag? you having a laugh? thats patently incorrect.

They really are s***. I'm so pleased someone else has felt my pain.

The biggest problem with them is that it's just so obvious engineers have been instructed to surgically remove every last trace of character/personaility. They don't have any sort of redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Empty lifeless soulless plastic boxes.

Give me a £17,000 Mondeo or an Accord any day of the week.
 
the only thing that they'd be good for is filling with ***** and towing trailers etc, but they are too expensive to even be useful for that - that's what focus' are for :D
 
My boss had the CDTI Accord, and that wasnt a bad car to drive, and it was better quality inside tbh, the current Mondeo is excellent imo.

The Passat is just not the prestige car that people make it out to be, its not even that reliable by all accounts.

Tbh im surprised its taken you this long to kill, id have fallen asleep and stacked a long while ago:p

Thank god someone else shares my opinion of Passats. I'm sick and tired of people (non car people) telling me what great cars they are.
They are bloody awful machines. No performance, no personality, expensive, no kit.
People who own them by choice are seriously deluded.
A Mondeo is a vasty superior car.

i must be the only one who hates the new mondeos then, although admittedly it was probably a few grand cheaper :/

out of the mondeo/vectra/passatt/avensis at work id take the vectra any day
 
Hah! I'm imagining airbags popping out from every possible piece of trim! You should have rapidly swung the wheel from side to side, lock to lock as it were as you cam to a stop. I'm voting for write-off optimistically as I want you to have a nice car next.
 
All these people trying to kill their passats - why not sell it?
Or do you not want to put anyone else through your pain :D

Hope its a write off tho, dosn't sound like you liked it to much ;)
