I ordered a mobo and AF7 and they were tracked on the van for delivery from 7am. Now tracking says this 'The goods have been returned to the branch after an unsuccessful delivery attempt'.
UTTER TOSH. I run a retail distribution operation from my home and I am here 24/7 along with at least 2 others. We've been serving customers all day. Nobody from Citylink has attempted to deliver anything at all. GRRR

A fiver says they drove past the end of your street too so the GPS log says they did indeed try to deliver.
SMS pull this crap day in and day out. Not personally experienced it from Citilink yet though.

had this from them as well, they leave their card saying they werent able to complete the delivery cause no one was there to collect it, ive been in the house or other family members have been present but they just dump the card on the doorstep and scarper:mad::mad:

TYpical citylink tactic, most prob didnt have the time to deliver so they just mark it down as a unsuccessful delivery.

Yep it looks better on company Target reports to say they attempted delivery than they failed,

Almost all large companies are like this, they probably have to look as they operate at a high standard with the lowest of budgets & man power but in reality they are barely coping, Performance Pay for the managers & FAT MD's , winning new contracts with lies are to blame not the poor driver that has to almost kill himself just to make a days wage.

several ocassions ive got the card and they say theyll try and deliver again in a few days or alternatively i can go to their depot at belfast international airport, (almost 40 miles away) to pick up the package.

I had even better. Online it said on van at 7am for delivery, come 6pm no delivery.

I rang them up next day and they admitted the driver didn't have time to deliver it that day but it was out on the van again that Friday for delivery again.

Come 5pm no delivery so I raqng them up and they said van had broken down so delivery is now Monday.

I went and collected it myself on Saturday morning.

ouch, thats really bad greebo.

Citylink have also claimed they attempted delivery when they didnt to me too. No card through the door as they didnt come, i was in the house all day with no noise.

I really hate these companies, we should get delivery costs refunded if this happens.

That reminds me, I must apply for a refund. Hell I drove 45 miles to pick the bloody thing up myself so I think I deserve one!

consider yourself lucky if you even get the card from them :p I never got mine, just the usual "unsuccessful delivery, card left" crap despite wasting all day at home waiting for them to come :S

Never had any problems with City Link personally. We always have the same driver and he's pretty good. So yeah, just wanted to balance out the thread a little =P

With TNT you can have a bar code on the wall inside your business, and the deliverer has to scan it.

Im sorry to hear Citylink are not very good in your area.

But down in South Devon I have never had a none delivery and thats from other companies awell as OCuk.

Just your branch must employ crap drivers. lol

I've used CityLink about 50 times and I've had two bad experiences.

The first one the driver pulled up outside my place, got out of the van and then got straight back in and drove off! I then chased after him and I managed to catch him because he had to turn around.

The second was for my 1TB samsung. I waited all day and no sign of a van. I rang them up at 4pm and they said he would be here by 5. I checked online and it said he had attempted delivery (which he had not) and left a card. I checked for a card and there was none. I rang them up and they said he delivered the card to the WRONG address. Which is remarkable seeing as doors usually have numbers on them!! I got the package in the the end.

I think the problem is I had a different driver on those occasions. Before this I had splendid service (he helped me carry a large TV a couple of times into my living room).

I've had this happen to me.
I was in all day waiting for the bell all day, and I noticed on their web site at around 4.45 on a friday 'The goods have been returned to the branch after an unsuccessful delivery attempt'.

I rang them pronto, and got through to someone who asked me what sort of door do you have?
Half glazed I told him like 50% of the people in the UK. I guess the drivers has to write something down about your house to prove he tried.

Anyway the guy was very nice to me, and delivered it to my house at 8PM that evening :)

Fun thread as I wait for that door bell today.. I particularly like the growing trend for couriers to charge extra for Saturday and timed deliveries after their normal attempts and their web sites' trend not to share local depot locations and numbers (to prevent pickups?) so they can get more ££s for the kit.. or is that a being a bit cynical?

And I'm a biker and need to collect from another courier and stuff a bunch of kit into my rucksack AND its going to rain... BAH! I DO NOT WANT WATER INGRESS IN ME NEW 1TB HDD!

And a little tip, when faced with the options to get next day or am or pm delivery when ordering kit I normally ignore the expensive deliveries and chose the cheapest option. 80% of time comes next day and as we know doesn't really matter what service is chosen when the "failed attempted delivery" card gets pushed through the door.

Well tracking says my items are back on the van again so lets hope for a successful outcome. I've had lots of pc stuff from citylink to my address and 95% of the time it goes smoothly. Previously when goods havent appeared I'd been using the free delivery option available elsewhere so wasn't too bothered. However when I've paid for next day I dont appreciate getting messed about.
Rant over....y'all have a nice day :D

Well, I've cleared a direct line of sight through to the half ajar front door.. and should I spot the slightest flutter of a courier card start to slip through as a letter I'm going to freakin' dive for that gap...

One just can't even begin to comprehend shunting a Lian-Li PC case on a motorcycle...
