Ok so due to my hair being long for the last 4 years and me getting sick of it and getting it cut, i havnt had to use hair gel at all. now i used to use some sort of extra strong brylcream cant remember what exactly it was.

now my hair is still a decent length, bout 2 inches, and i was wondering whats the best gel (or wax, never used it) for getting a really scruffy look?

looked at fudge hair gum and some vo5 stuff but cant find any that say scruffy/untidy, so has anyone got recommendations? :)

I use a bed head hair stick for cool people :p

It's basically just wax but i have had it over 12 months now and there is still loads left and i find it really easy to use and doesnt make your hair look all gunky

*edit* Thats the one

I use d:fi wax, comes in various strenghts, very good stuff.

One i use;

Gel would look tacky, it would feel disgusting in the heat and not one one of my favourites.
Matt clay I think is better for getting what look you desire. Remember, with clay, don't but crap loads on and look like a knob. The best effect is a little here and there applied evenly especially for a scruffy look.
I recommend going to a hair stylist and thinning your hair as it'll be easier to control then.

I contest this statement!

I cut my hair (from about 4' to about 2") in october... It has just reached a decent length again and I have fashioned a nice 70s US TV programme look...

It works, ask Kell_ee001 :p

I know you said about VO5 but i found this to be the only solution for my thick, hard to control hair.

(i still go for the scruffy look, but its really good, holds the hair yet never sets and you can restyle and adjust the whole time, works with every hair length. Small tin, yet lastas months, a tiny bit covers the entire head, its incredible.
No hotlinking

Get a matt paste. I use Label M, though you can get a regular Toni and Guy one from Boots etc. Best thing for short to mid-length hair. Good for that messy yet natural look.
