Been on my decks recently due to the lovely weather, so entertaining friends with some good music is what I enjoy doing.

Thought I feel that my mixer is now a bit old, it's a Gemini PS540i, and I don't think it does my mixes justice :p

Looking for a 2 channel mixer with a few effects and a BPM counter would be nice, but not essential. Was looking at the Gemini PS03 as it seems to have some nice features and just at the top end of my price range. Though if I really wanted the BPM counter I was looking at the Behringer VMX300, although I don't think this has many effects on it other than the basic High, Mid and Low adjustment controls.

Any suggestions at other ones that I should take a look at? It's to be paired with Numark TT100's. Thanks in advance :)

Dont get a Behringer.!!!!

Don't use BPM counters :p

Save some cash up and get a second hand Pioneer DJM300.

If you get a Behringer, be prepared for electronics to fail quickly. They have always offered the most features for the price, but they have the highest fail rate of any any manufacturer. I wouldnt be too bothered at less than £100, but its always spending the extra for a decent brand. :)

I do know Behringers reputation but I've just taken a chance on this amp to use as foldback with these full range 15" speakers.
Must admit they sound awesome and we can have full drums coming through them.
Its also got an anti feedback control which should be useful.
We'll see how long it lasts.

I got the speakers for a bargain.
Last week I booked a DJ for a students Graduation and while he setup, one of the speakers fell over on the stage.
A few swear words later and the cab was quite damaged but the drivers hadn't been touched.
He played quite a large room with just those speakers and no subs and they put out a great sound.
At the end of the night we spoke and because he owns a DJ shop he offered me both speakers for £135
I took the damaged one home, took it apart, refit the cab and used plastic filler to cover up the damage - a bargain.

As I said, BPM counters aren't essential as my beat matching is pretty good  :p

Didn't realise Behringer had such a bad reputation. And that DJM300 is 6 times my budget

You'll be able to get hold of a DJM-300 for somewhere around the £100 mark second-hand. Might not be the colour you want, might not have the box or instructions, but they are as tough as nails and can take a fair bit of a abuse.

Completed listings, but they'll show you what's out there:

Without wishing to derail the topic too badly, and apologising for jumping in, does anyone have any experience or opinions on these?

Been offered a BNIB one for silly money.

Technics one looks quite interesting, they are bullet proof too but i dont personally like them.

it doesnt have many features, but its solid will last for EVER and the SQ is excellent.

If you want a "flashy" one go with Behringer it was VERY bad SQ and build and i replaced
withing 3 months.

My first mixer was a Gemini 626 Pro, you can get a tasty one of these from HTFR for around £100 new.

GEMINI UMX 9 SPECIAL EDITION - £99
GEMINI PS 626X - £85

The first one is VERY nice looking my gemini has lasted 10 years now and still going.

Gemini unveil their new special edition umx mixer in a new attempt to blow away the competition. This 10" professional vca mixer comes with a steel reinforced railglide crossfader and ultra precise metal eqs and gain knobs. With curve control on both the cross and input faders, this mixer is equally at home in the club, bedroom or battle situation, and don't overlook the possibility of a massive nine inputs for some serious versatility. The umx se also has balanced xlr outputs and red and blue leds, adding beautifully to the classic silver veneer for the ultimate in mixer aesthetics.

* 3 channel
* 9 possible inputs inc mic
* 3 band eq on each channel
* Full gain on each channel
* Pan controls on each channel
* Assignable railglide xfader with curve / reverse
* Channel slide curve control with 3 settings
* Push button cueing with volume & fader control
* Master, zone and record outputs

I've no disputing that Gemini are a quality make, I've had mine two years and it's still performing the same, I just want something a bit newer and a few more features to 'up my game' a little more.

The 626X is pretty nice looking. Was also possibly looking at the PS04, which can be had for £150. And has a few FX's and plenty of other features.

Would on board FX are normally pap until you get into higher end stuff.

Cheap mixer then a mini kaos or gemini fx unit.

Why didn't I think of that :/ could just keep my mixer as it does still work, after all, and just get a FX unit.
