UEFA Cup Final **Spoilers**

A hidden mike in the Rangers dressing room reveals Walter's tactics -

"Okay lads, hold out for 120 minutes and then go for it" ;)

Fast flowing football defeats the stifling anti-football tactics of Rangers. To play with a 4-5-1 formation in a European final is inexcusable and Rangers only tried to play decent attacking football when they were forced to by the Zenit goal. If Rangers had played with an attacking formation from the start I think they may have won it but it wasn't to be.

I just don't understand why Rangers fans are taking their frustration out on the Police. Why can't they just grin and bear it like the Celtic fans did in Seville and simply be proud that they reached the final? More shame heaped on Scotland thanks to these mindless idiots. :(

You are making huge presumptions that all the 150 000 fans are genuine. If there are 200 arrests it's still less than 0.001% of the fans that were there. :o

Let's get it into perspective.

In the youtube clip there seems to be quite a few casuals with no colours just milling around.

I have a friend who visits manchester a lot and he said the police down there are always up for a fight anyway. Not that i'm trying to defend the 0.001% of course.

Whenever there is a mass of Football fans gathered in a small area drinking alcohol for 6/7 hours straight, there is always going to be trouble.

I've yet to see an event similar that hasn't ended like this.

Seville 2003. So we lost in extra time to a Porto team that cheated it's way to a win (shameful considering the players they had) but we still partied as if we had won. :D

I'm ashamed to be a Rangers fan this morning. The behaviour of the 'fans' in Manchester last night has brought shame to the club, and I wouldn't be surprised if it results in UEFA sanctions.
On behalf of the rest of the club's fans I would like to apologise to the people of Manchester.

If I was a Rangers fan I'd be literally incandescent with rage that these morons associated themselves with my football club. As a fan of Scottish football I'm still pretty fuming that a small amount of idiots will probably tarnish the reputation of Scottish fans, I can only hope that the culprits are suitably punished.

I'm raged this morning that a tiny minority "approx 0.01%" of fans have overshadowed the perfect behaviour of so many True Rangers fan. Remember this year on the road there have been 0 arrests of rangers fans till this game when being in the same country made it easy for the small ned element (that every club has) travel to the game and cause trouble.

For all the high and might celtic fans remember your pllane being diverteds as a fan was having a nice air rage incident which was deemed to be putting hte lives of those on board at risk.

Just read about a Russian fan being stabbed however there seems no news on who he was stabbed by as yet.

I don't believe for one minute that the screen was turned off on purpose, get a grip. How would have that made it "safer"?! :p

Be interesting to see the cause of the screen going off though.

No just pointing out we have a bad element and your team has just the same problems.

Rangers fans riot and cause chaos to Manchester city centre.

One Celtic fan goes daft in a plane.

Its not really the same is it?

Celtic fans did win awards for their behaviour in Seville at the same fixture.

Dont forget, Rangers fans have already been warned by UEFA about sectarian singing, not to mention the bus being stoned last year in spain.

The radio reports that UEFA will consider imposing action against Rangers, a possible 5-7 year ban for Rangers in europe or even all scottish clubs is on the table.

Of course there is always some bad apples that spoil it for everyone, but it does seem like Rangers have more of these than most.

They should be thrown out of europe next season, with Motherwell taking the champions league spot, and the 4th place team taking the Uefa spot.

Your right its far worse.

One celtic fan goes daft at 30k feet when the pilot fears for the safety of his staff and passangers that he had to divert to the nearest airport.

And no one died, yet one fan did die at the cup final last night.

Rangers fans, you really couldnt make it up, Scotlands shame etc etc.

Terrible from some of the so called rangers supporters last night, but you seem to be blaming the whole 100k+ for this......not the minority:mad:

I know a fan was stabbed & hopefully the people responsible will be punished, but where was someone killed last night, can't find any mention of this anywhere

I'm still proud of the team, but those fans shoule never be allowed to wear a Rangers top ever again. It drives me mad that a small amount of people use a big football occasion as an excuse to start a riot.
Shame the club will probably be fined for this, when they should be fining the fans that are arrested for this stuff.

Shame for Rangers last night as I genuinely wantd them to win. Not that I have any love for them as I would watch Celtic out of the two. However I think Zenit did look that little bit better and easier on the ball than the Gers.

As for the trouble. Still no excuse for it but lets not tarnish all of their fans for what was essentially the very smallest minority who spoiled it. A warm day, loads of beer, lots of people, your always going to get some trouble with or without football in those conditions

A small minority eh? Have you seen the CCTV images of a huge mob chasing down the Police? Truly shameful and a blight on the good name of other Scottish clubs. :(

Police quote around 200 socalled "fans" I call them yobs were involved. When taking into account Manchester figures of 200k fans in the city thats 0.1% so yes it is a minority when 99.9% were well behaved and had a party.

Still disgusting but it was a minority. I also hope the police will pass the names of all those arrested to Ibrox officials and if any are found to hold season tickets then they will hopefully no longer hold season tickets.

Manchester severely underestimated the amount of fans that would travel and the provisions that they needed to accommodate them. The organisers will be a little red faced, but not as much as the true Rangers fans and even Scot's as a whole.
