Im interested in building a new rig,
basically it will have 8gig Ram, q6600 800 watt power supply and coolermaster cosmos case, will have 64bit vista home premium ....

what im wondering is whats the best card available for less then 200 pounds and can you post with a motherboard suggestion as well (not included in the 200 pounds budget)

for info, i use photoshop, multi-task, play world in conflict, cod4 and some other games which dont even stress my current system on full.

My preference is that it is as quiet as possible as well because i haven't bought that cosmos for nothing!

Thanks muchly

8800gtx, tbh if your using photoshop ram is useful but 8gb is overkil, especially when you could put that towards a faster gpu.

i knew some one would mention it... but the thing is i just want 8gig....and the reason the 200 pound limit is just i dont see a reason to spend more? perhaps 250 at a stretch.

well for £230 (shopping around) you can get 3870X2, but IMO id wait till july to see the new cards, if you cannot, id get a 3870, and then Xfire it then (as it will be cheaper then)

BTW what PSU you planning on getting, and what mobo?

thing is.... im buying this and dont plan to upgrade it for a while because i will be at UNI and wont be able to afford upgrading to ddr3. The other problem is if you just keep waiting and waiting for the things to get cheaper you will then have the decision of... shall i go for the cheap stuff? oh no wait ddr4 is gona be more availible next month so i will hold on.

The powersupply is the gigabyte odin GT.. 800 watts... motherboard is undecided but pci exp 2.0 is a must.

the thing is, its not like a new series of CPUs/Mobos/Gfx etc is out everymonth.

its only minor revisions that are out every 6 months or so.

so one would know when to buy/not buy

ok well i have to wait till august for the money anyway so waiting is fine.
cheers guys lets just see what the future brings!
