I must put more time in. My toon is only at 53 and hasn't been to an instance since SM :(

Congratulations to everyone by the way :D

Seeing as this is a WoW thread and I didnt really want to start a new one: I'm getting the game again soon and will start playing in june, I'm not going to be playing on OCUK server though as I'm playing with some friends on lightbringer, I'm going to go blood elf as they're all horde so I need to be horde and blood elf is the only semi-reasonable looking one imo. Are blood elf paladins any good? I've played WoW a few years ago as a night elf rogue to about 25 and gnome mage to 25 also what secondary talents should I pick? I liked engineering on my gnome so I was thinking mining for money/engineering or is that a poor choice?

Fixed

YES!

mate, why bother? if he wants to start the game again let him, just cos u dont like it doesnt mean u have to ruin a thread about the ocuk wow guild. if u dont like his decision then please just be quiet.

as for paladins, they are a very powerful healing class a pretty good tanking class and an ok dps class, it depends what you want to do really

Seconded.

Paladins are fun to play but you'd better be prepared to either tank or heal, because nobody really wants a DPS paladin.
They are one of the best single-target healing classes in the game, though. Pretty good at tanking too.

Is tanking just taking damage basically? I'm tempted by paladin as the other people I'll be playing with are: Hunter, Mage, Warlock and shadow priest so I'm not too sure if they'd want another mage, and considering I've been one before a new class could be fun.

Tanking is keeping the boss focused on you so the healers/dps dont get flattened so yeah, taking damage.
Your based around holding the bosses attention (system known as "threat") and staying alive as long as possible (damage mitigation stats such as block/dodge/parry).

There's 3 tanking classes in the game at the moment:
Warrior = best single enemy tank.
Pally = best group boss tank
Druid = best hard/slow hits tank (they generally have the biggest health pool).

Pally's probably the most fun of the 3 when actually tanking.
If your starting your first character tho i'd recommend some form of DPS so you can farm materials/kill quest beasties faster. If your one of the above classes geared to tank your generally very hard to put down but have all the killing power of a wet paper towel (druids an exception to that).

To be fair i'd agree with him, not because wow is bad but because its too good! Complete life stealer and hard to play 'in moderation' till later on at least when you cant level. But if you're in a good guild, you're screwed

I actually do want a character that can kill stuff fast as my friends are ~ level 30 and I'd need to catch up to them, what would be the better choices for killing as a blood elf?

Rogues are exceptionally fast levellers as well be being an awful lot of fun to play. You do however need to keep your equipment levels current and may need to bandage every 3 or 4 kills, though it's not like cloth is rare. Rogues aren't exactly in high demand for groups though.
