Birdcam 2008 - The Official Thread

Wow the site has exploded today with visits from all around the world. My sister helped that it would appear by adding it on b3ta.com but I've had over 1000 hits from more than 400 unique visitors today!

Spread the love people :D

Not sure if people are still reading this thread but I've updated a clip this morning where you can see one of the chicks

Sorry if youtube is flaky, just keep trying I guess!

i'm watching too :)

here's my own nesting birds (3 starlings) only mine are a bit closer and by that i meant they are 2 foot above my computer in the airvent in the wall, noisey little things when there being fed i can tell ya

We could clearly see 9 eggs at the end and we think we have 6 chicks.

Will upload some more videos either this evening or tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the replies.

Running out of space in my email box so finding good videos to upload is proving hard. Instead of the usual feeding frenzy I've got some unusual behaviour with regards to the toilet habbits of the chicks!

still watching here in fact you have inspired me so much i have bought the equipment for a birthday present for my dad. Many thanks for the thread :)

Just thought I'd share this photo taken outside my house. We have a veranda type structure made out of trellis covering the back door and a blackbird couple decided to make their nest inside it, just a few feet from the back door!

The nest is probably just over 6 foot high. And there were 5 eggs, this photo appears to only show 4 chicks.

NIce pic, thanks for sharing. Slightly easier to access them in an open nest I bet!

Going to look at a camera upgrade for next year I think, would maybe like to be able to zoom and set focus etc.

As of 2pm today it appears that all the chicks have died.

The chicks became quieter and quieter and mum was spending less and less time in the box looking after them.

It may be that the dad has died and therefore wasn't able to support the family with food or it may be that there weren't enough caterpillars at this time of year.

Thanks for everyone who stayed tuned, we will be back next year with hopefully better results.
