Emo Now An Evil Cult Not Just Something To Joke About

the "emo's" i've seen around my parts all seem to be a happy bunch of chappies when hanging about town. obviously you get the odd one or two who take all this emo business a bit too far/seriously and do something like this kid has done. i blame bebo/facebook/myspace :D

all emos look the same in my home town. indy in more of a bohemium look where i come from
 
what about the mother trying to force her kid not to be emo.

My God. This kind of thing is utterly ridiculous. It is tragic a girl has committed suicide but to try and blame a type of music/way of dressing is laughable.
How many times has it happened in the past? How many times has music actually proven to be the root cause of any evils?

Music is escapism and there to be enjoyed. You don't listen to an album because it makes you feel like killing yourself no matter how 'dark' the content.

It goes to show how ill informed the people who wrote that article are when you read the comment under the MCR picture. I nearly spat my lunch out laughing.

The parents deserve an answer to why this tragedy happened but grasping at the 'music' straw is wrong and will just move them further away from the truth I'm sure.

plenty of people who self harm aren't emo's, but as usual a load of sensationalised crap from the mail

I don't like emo but each unto their own, and ffs it's not a cult

Emo music/culture is not what causes people to be depressed and troubled, it is a place where many people do turn to however to express themselves and how they feel, the problem is not the music, it is why they feel like this in the first place
