for example you can see my specs in my signature but im still craving for new graphic card even i can play all game on high settings even crysis. so why should i upgrade to 4870x2 when come back from summer holidays only for benchmarks or for extra 50 fps witch i don't need even i play cs:S 200 fps +

Man cannot get the feeling of power by grabbing a sword and shield and telling your army to go and take over a settlement this day in age, so we get our kicks by having better hardware to virtually do it on the latest greatest graphical and hardware challenging games

:D

i think this addiction is more expensive then drugs

it probably is if you think about. the kind of person who a few years ago would buy two 7800gtx for sli and at what ? £400 a pop or something? i try not to though as at the moment im low on funds as it is :(

I don't and can't have it at a young age. But after i pay for trips to london and iceland...i'll finally be able to use my job to get a new P.C :P.

You must not have a high res monitor if that 8800GTS is enough... and theres noway you can play Crysis on very high smoothly. My 8800GTX couldn't.

When i can play any game at 2560x1600 with 16xAA + 16xAF on full graphical settings, then it will be enough.
But that will never happen as graphics dont stand still. So even though i have a 9800GX2 i'll still be getting one of the next ATI/NV cards, whichever is fastest.

Was considering giving up smoking and read that you should keep what you save for something 'you' want - gave up smoking and so it started.

No regrets - I still don't spend as much on my computer as I did on fags !!!! & I'm not seeing my money go up in smoke (well not often anyway!)

Also way cheaper than buying new (secondhand) cars every few years (gave that up as well) that may give me a slightly better top mph/0-60 etc. - Thinking about it it's probably a very similar hobby , just a hell of a lot cheaper to indulge:D

Philophosy of life over for today - my brain hurts .

Back to mindless gaming:)

it's fun opening a new box and getting that smell of new parts, and benching, and seeing how good our scores are to others on this and other forums.

sure, in the real world, it probably doesn't do all that much, but for those of us who use PCs constantly, there are few things more satisfying than being able to handle with ease anythng that comes our way, and being able to brag that we have the fastest / most powerful PC amongst our friends / relatives.

IMO it's also why we OC.
