i have 2 seperate videos and one id like to use as part of movement for the top right corner, so i cropped it using virtualdub and imported to premiere and overlapped it over the still background as a seperate video

the problem is that when its imported and i place it in the top right corner its the wrong size, then when i try stretching it it just wont match up with the rest of the background image. Ive tried cropping in premiere and that is just useless as it produces a black line all around the video overlapping the background.

ive been trying to do this for hours and i would have thought an apparently good video editor would not have a problem doing something so simple

how can i fix this?, both background and moving video are the same resolution, and from the exact same scene. I cant work it out

Search google for "Adobe Premiere tutorials". Lots and lots of vid tutorials out there. Should explain everything.

i might be able to help, but i dont understand exacly what you want to do.

Do u simply want a "Picture in Picture" effect?

EDIT: I managed to do it in less than a minute.

  • Just import the main vid into the "Video 1" track, then import the video you want as the overlay in the corner into the "Video 2" track.
  • To resize the overlay; select the track, and click on the video in the main preview window, then click and drag the bounding box to resize it.
  • Then to Crop the overlay; select the track, then from the "Effects" browser, go to "Video Effects> Transform> Crop", and just drag it to the video track in the timeline.
  • To adjust the crop; go to the "Effect Control" browser and select the "Crop" effect you applied. This will bring up another bounding box in the Preview Window, just click and drag the box to crop it as much as you like.
