Firstly, my car is black, not metallic or anything fancy, just pure black. The paintwork is now 7 years old. Its on a VW and from what I gather its very hard paint.

Currently i use:

Megs Tech Wash/Autoglym shampoo
Sheepskin mitt
Leather chamois
Autoglym SRP
Megs NXT Tech wax
Turtlewax Platinum Wax
Megs foam applicator pads

Is there any products that will do the job better than the above, ie, use x instead of y.

As my car is just black, I want the glossiest shine possible, not particularly bothered about the longevity, as it is cleaned often. I do everything by hand.

What is the 3 step Megs kit on here like, is it worth having or is there better stuff around?

Also I would like a claybar, the only one I have found is the one in Halfords, its a megs gold class one, is it any good?

Thanks in advance

I would have thought the megs gold class claybar was good enough (I've used them before), so definitely use one it will make your paint so much smoother.

To be honest I dont see much else wrong with your products you use, maybe swap the NXT Wax for Gold Class (no doubt some guys on here will recommend Collinite etc), I had a solid red fiesta and the gold class seemed to do a better job on the solid colour of the car.

Megs 3 step.
The 3rd step (carnauba wax) is crap. I found it lasted only a couple of days. So don't waste your money on that.
I have the Megs gold class tinned paste wax, which is great, easy to apply too.

Ultima, expensive initial outlay but lasts ages as you hardly use any.
Totally different to pretty much everything else out there but works amazingly well and lasts months :)
