Overclocked E6600 to 3GHz Few issues though

Hi all ive just overclocked my E6600 on my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard. The Frequency is set to 333 X9 memory is set to DDR 666Mhz giving it 1:1 ratio. So at least settings are correct.

Thing is when ever i reboot the machine or just save settings from the bios and boot into windows the computer cuts off an then all of a sudden switches on again? Everything is ok like it beeps once and all is fine. I just dont get whats happening seems to cut out then carry on stright away with no problems?

Sorry though im a bit of an overclocking noob

Can anyone shed some light on this:confused:

Computer will do a soft reset after you modifiy BIOS settings... i.e. you go to save and exit BIOS it will turn off and then turn back on and boot.. this is normal
 
Ah right i see, just been reading up on it. Any way it can be deactivated in the BIOS. My Friend says the only way i can do it is to update the BIOS in order to do so?

it needs the double boot to update the changes to bios, or if you switch off at mains it will do it. AFAIK a updated bios flash will make no difference.

yep thats normal i have exactly the same setup as your and mine is running at 3.6Ghz (400 x 9_) on an E6600 with Tuniq 120 , so what cooler r u using and what Bios version
 
Not sure about the BIOS version il check that after. The cpu cooler im using is an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro

Sometimes a newer BIOS doesn't do it, but it seems to be a feature of the older chipsets.

My P965 based Abit AB9 QuadGT does it every time even on the latest BIOS, but my P35 based Abit IP35-Pro only does it if there's a strap change.
