Guitar Hero 3 how to play like this?

Guitar is of no help what sover, just having a sense of rhythm is. Put it this way, my brother played guitar for 4-5 years before getting guitar hero, after 2 months, he was just going through Hard. iamchris4life on scorehero had never played guitar, only DDR, but after 2 months, he 100% Misirlou.

I think knowing how to play the guitar does help but not in a sense of helping you get 100% on everything if that makes sense lol

I play the guitar and have been doing for quite a number of years now but i'm not THAT great at guitar hero, however I find I have better speed and dexterity in my fingers than anyone I know that doesnt know how to play the guitar. This does help me with hammer on's and pull off's and double/tripple chords and changes. I found I was happily using all 5 buttons long before any of my friends were and even now they struggle to use their little finger etc

The problem is that my rhythm sucks lol doing a repetitive sequence like in Paranoid I really struggle at lol so as you said, having rhythm is what its mainly about

As for the controller thing, Ultra's sister is just immense at that! lol

Wish I could play like that. I still suck on Medium at times.. this is one of those games ill never get good at..

my friend can only play GH by strumming each note at the same time that he presses the fret button.

You mean I dont have to strum for every note I play? I thought that was the idea & you only had certain lit up notes that you could press without strumming? I am on the last tier on medium but struggling with all the songs.

when i first picked up the guitar i could already near complete the game on hard with the pad, i was so cack handed its unreal, you'd be playing easy mode songs. There would be a yellow key coming your way nice and slow, you'd check a few times with taps to make sure you had it, just as it got into the butter zone aaaaaand ..... Clunck red and some blue "WTF how did that happen!!??!?" but slowly it starts to come, i can knock out a good few songs on hard now and ive 5 starred everything up to hard, its deffo easier than with a pad its just also harder in some ways. Stick at it.

You have to strum every note except hammer-ons and pull-offs. While you don't see too many of them on medium and easy, entire sections of songs can be HO/POs on the two harder difficulties.

Truth. Go look at Cult of Personality's first solo on hard, it is entirley ho/po's till the orange hold.

i play gh3 on expert and five starred most songs, if anyone fancies a game on xbox live add me my gt is oOo simply oOo and then tell me here so i can flick the box on

You can strum quicker. Downstruming I can do a constant 10 notes per second, alt-strumming i can get up to 21nps, so I sometimes overstrum in the fast parts of Devil Went Down To Gerogia.

Then say TWIE, i don't go by band names :p

I strum contstantly through that, except the solo, I don't stop for the little breaks as the timing window is so large. Knight of Cydonia is also a good example.
