Hey,

I'm looking for some very comfortable closed headphones for gaming (mainly FPS). I don't need super duper fantastic surround sound bass or whatever - they just need to be comfortable for long periods on gaming. Sure if they sound great then that's a bonus, I just mean I'm not looking for the best sounding headphones out there. I have approx £50 to spend.

Kinda off topic, but I also need a very good quality desktop mic for communication in-game, ventrilo, teamspeak, etc. I always seem to find my microphones aren't as clear as I want them to be or there's always some sort of background noise team-mates complain of. There's nothing more annoying in-game then having to repeat yourself :P

I'm a bit of an audio noob and it would be great if you guys could help me out :)

EDIT: Wrong section, my bad.

Sennheiser HD555. Check them out, very very good cans at a reasonable price.

Mic's not sure about, but I got a cheapy one off that auction site and it works fine.

Elara clip-on microphone Google this, it's about £3 and it is fantastic, I have mine clipped onto the side of my computer and it picks me up loud and clear, amazing quality.

I just used it to record a voiceover for some college work. :)

I'm in two minds about them. They're open and I don't want sound leaking out, but then how much sound do they leak? Will people in the room be able to clearly hear what I'm listening to?

Nice one. :D

It's actually a Speedlink product;

Thought it was funny, I had sent my Speedlink Medusa 5.1 headset back for being crap & for breaking then turns up a Speedlink microphone the day after. :D

Also something you might wanna save up for is a Xonar DX soundcard, Dolby Headphone mode will blow you away, 5.1 through stereo and it actually works!

I think Creative has a similar setting called CMSS-3D if you have an X-Fi though.

I've got a pair of Sennheiser PX100s (open back) for listening to music and I have to say they are the best headphones I've experienced - I've also got some Sennheiser PC166s which I got for gaming but they get uncomfortable after a while due to the weight, wherease the PX100s have never caused me any trouble because they're so lightweight.

So although I've never heard any, I'd say get a pair of PX200s - the closed back version of the PX100s, as they should be really good.

If you're concerned about leakage than don't get the 555's or similar. I've had those and presently have 595's. Excellent sound quality but they are very audible to everyone in the same room.

Something like the PX200's mentioned above should be perfect! :)
