Hey all,

My car is always parked under a lot of trees - and bird crap has been minimal - asin, none at all since I moved. But last night I parked in a different spot and I've come down this morning and it appears that several pidgeons suffering from chronic "squirts" have landed on my bonnet, windscreen and roof pulled there arse cheeks apart and let rip.

I have never seen so much bird **** appear in one night.

I didn't have time to sort it this morning as I was on my way to work, but I feel if it's left it'll leave permenant damage to the paintwork which won't help the resale!

So, when I get back tonight, what's going to be the best way aside from high pressured hose and a bucket and sponge?

Many Thanks.

Lovely description for us there Phate. :D

If it's dry just get some soapy warm water and dab it off. Should come off nicely. It takes ages for bird cack to damage the paintwork I think so you should be OK.

I would get that off quickly because it damages and discoulours the paintwork. Simply use some warm soapy water with a wash mit. Then maybe clay it to remove contamination

Thanks guys, I'll sort it as soon as I get home tonight...the sun doesn't really get through the trees, so it won't be "baked" on.

I'll take pics before I take it off though :p

I've just removed some baked on from my bonnet. Warm water and fairy liquid sorted it, soak the crap and then wipe :p :)

I've got a couple of small spots on my roof where the lacquer is blistered, I'm fairly sure it's because of bird ****. I don't use anything special to clean it off, just jet wash the bulk of it off then wash away the remains with normal shampoo. It needs to be cleaned off ASAP though really, and certainly don't leave it to bake on in the sun with a dark coloured car.

I often come out to my car in the morning faced with huge dollops of bird droppings in the morning, if it's hard then I just soak a paper towel, sit it on the patch for a minute or two and it comes off, usually it's moist enough to wipe off straight away though. I generally remove it as soon as I notice it, doesn't seem to have harmed hte paint yet.

Fairy Liquid is full of all manner of detergents, and WAX STRIPPING qualities. Its designed to remove grease (a waxy substance) from china ware.

If you use Fairy Liquid on car paintwork, I hope you resealed and rewaxed afterwards.

Mate. I dabbed the smallest bit wattered down on a piece of cloth to remove a bit of crap the size of a five pence piece. Relax :D

best way is a fairly concentrated water/shampoo mix and let the shampoo soak in to it for a while before washing it off, so it doesn't cause any damage
