'Armed teenage gang stopped on bus'

As people have said, their intent is what matters. The police just seem content to disarm people, without taking into account kicking someone into a paving slab can crack a skull open and kill someone just as well as a bat can.

Did you miss the bit where they are charged with conspiracy to commit violent disorder?

No I didn't, but I don't expect anything to come of it...for that charge to be successful there would need to be evidence of a pre-meditated plan to attack someone or at the very least eyewitness testimony from someone who was being followed.

lol, certainly would deter people from carrying knives on the street. On another note, i'm in favour of bringing the death penalty back, there isnt enough scare tactics with prisons, people just dont care. People would care if there own life hanged in the balance.

what are people's thoughts regarding the death penalty?

Reality has shown that the death penalty is NOT a deterrant. What criminal plans for getting caught?

Maybe they were a bunch of chefs and handymen off for a round of golf. More likely that they're just complete scumbags though.

Yes and probably soon to be mechanics carrying all their gear in a holdhall (sarcasm)
Absolutely disgraceful that they were not charged (I know) with intent.......because you just don't carry those things around for heck of it?

Why can't the government grow some balls. Build more prisons and actually make decent laws. That's a hell of a collection and only has one purpose. Anyone caryring such things should get a minimum of 10 years. Regardless of age.

In other words, the paperwork will sit on a desk for a week or so and they'll be let off with nowt but a caution. Meanwhile, the police chalk up another 24 "crimes solved" making it look like they're actually doing something about it.

Don't blame the Police......blame the Government and Judiscial system, one for introducing spin into everything to get morons to vote for them and the other for having their heads so far up their ***** they actually think they make a difference.

Straight to Borstal (the old ways are best) for a spot of discipline. Of course the trouble is that nobody believes in discipline any more because it "violates the Human Rights of an Individual".......

Poppycock, bring back the Birch, Slipper, Cane, Stocks and Ducking Stool (for 5-10 year olds) and just hang anyone older.......soon have a nice peaceful neighbourhood wherever you live!.

Blame the parents more than anyone else in my opinion.. aged 14-18 its their responsibility, they should have the book thrown at them for letting their kids carry that kind of stuff around on buses.. And its total rubbish if they claim they're "out of control" if I had acted like that I'd have been very harshly punished.

Whatever happend to

The fact is that fighting like a real man is beyond the comprehension of today's little scrotes.

One of them pulls a knife on you, you pull a knife too....they leg it, even if there's a gang of them.

One of them pulls a knife, you don't have a knife, they stab you and feel like "men".

One of them pulls a knife, you offer to fight like a man and not with weapons, they stab you and the rest join in, laughing like hyenas.

Cowards, the lot of them.

Right, I read this article yesterday, and maybe someone can explain something to me! I swear to god, that by the back door on a double decker bus there is an emergency exit button that you can press to open the door. Why didn't they use this? And moreover, why didn't they just kick in the back door when they realised what was happening? Bus doors are pretty flimsy!

I can't believe that the driver would willing lock them in the bus, and then sit in his little cabin and wait for the police. Something would have kicked off surely?

Thte death penalty could reduce crime or increase it. For example In Kenya anything above armed robbery (not violent just armed) is rest of life in prison. Theives didnt take kindly to this so instead of getting caught they are shooting people on sight who give the least bit of resistance.

So it may stop teenagers doing it for fun who know they will only get a slap on the back of the hand! However for people that live of robbing etc they will just kill on sight - are they gonig to be killed twice! 1. for robbing 2. for killing the person.

This country still believes in correction and rehabiltation. Which i think is a good way of doing things but this country fails to do it properly.

....... walk round with crowbars like Gordon Freeman but I'd rather injure someone than have them hurt to even kill me.

But the combine are bullying me at school mr policeman :D

I just agree with this post:

ot ideal to carry weapons? Since when is it ever ideal?

Caught them red handed? You mean arrest them once they've cracked someone across the skull with a metal bar? Or jabbed someone in the stomach or leg with a screwdriver?

You say we might never know what was going to happen now? Don't you think it's slightly obvious what the intent was? I can't see any other need for carrying them other than violence. I'd rather not see what was going to happen and have one more teenager free to live their life other than lying in a pool of blood in some london street or shop.

Relaxing the rules on Stop and Search would be a good start, let the police search people without the fear of being branded racist etc.

Take London for example, there is a issue with Black teenagers and violent crime but to say it is racist.

"When officers searched the youths they found six knives, two screwdrivers, a corkscrew, a golf club, a metal baseball bat, a mallet, two wrench handles, a claw hammer and a metal bar."

Proper hardmen carry corkscrews.

There's actually a pretty good reason to carry a corkscrew.. It's sharp enough to stab someone with but its not actually classed as an offensive weapon.. So if you're stopped by the police they cant actually arrest you for it like they could if you were carrying a knife..

I've had someone pull an apple corer on me and try stab me with it.. Luckily I wasn't hurt, but when I was reporting it to the police they said more and more people were carrying things like that in the area as a kind of loop hole...

This happened about 3 - 4 years ago so im not sure if the law has changed or not to fix this..

As for what they found on those teenagers im not that suprised... I live in Peckham in SE London, and I've seen a lot stuff like that, kids these days just dont care, they act like they have nothing to fear and have no respect for others or authority etc.. It's crazy, people really need to start bringing up their kids better..

Don't get me wrong, im no angel, I was a little **** when I was younger, I was always fighting, but I'd never get tooled up like that or even think about using a knife or something similar on someone.. How has life become so cheap??
