98, R reg, 70k miles...thats about all i know..

same engine as a Puma so not gonna be that bad on fuel is it?

BugOne enjoyed his, many people have had problems, its a total hit & miss really, if you like the marmite looks and get a good one, you're away, but there is a lot of things waiting to go wrong from what a lot of people have said before. if you're up for the risk, go for it!

yeah ignore that dunno why i thought they were 2l..:o

pumas are group 12 insurance i think any idea what these are?

The Puma is a Ford anyway, there are no shared engines to the Fiat range.

Insurance depends on the model, but none will be cheap if you are fairly young. That one look like it's the 5 cylinder 20V (non-turbo) model which is around group 17.

Not sure 'Marmite looks' is appropriate... That suggests atleast some people like it...

it looks great. probably better than the puma but the puma is more unique :D

group 17 tho... i dont think i will even bother to call em up for a quote, im still paying monthly for my 106 which cost me nothing and thats like a group 2.

A good car, but plagued with typical Italian reliability and build quality issues.
They can't wire a plug properly, never mind something like a car.

There are actually, in the new Ka.

But the coupe uses only FIAT lumps, and it's a lot better for it. Puma is horrendous, could do with some baffles in the sump for a start.

It's a high maintenance car, but the 20V Turbo is as quick as some of the 911 range.

If you know how to do the work yourself, you can mend them quite affordably, but dealer work will be expensive as they'll charge you labour for book times (>9 hours for a cam belt change which can be done in 4).

Make sure it's had its cam belt changed, and that the exhaust manifold is OK, the later ones have cuts, the early ones will need a modification.

Good point, forgot about that one (though the Ka isn't out yet AFAIK?).

The 20V is great engine both normally aspirated and turbo'd. The only thing that is a bit silly is the fuel consumption of the 20V is only a very small improvement on the 20VT in the Coupe.

An expensive to maintain fast coupe. Be careful most are sold on before the cambelt is due as it is an engine out job. I have heard that some garages have manged to do it in situ but don't bank on it.

Running costs will be high especially at that age.

I loved mine i really did

Had a 20vt 1998 running about 280bhp was so nice to drive never really had any major problems!! did a 1/4 mile in 13.7 with just a chip and boost controller!!!

Mine was written off after a spin on a oily bend at 60 lucky to be alive tbh but all said and done i would still buy another and plan to get a LE at some point!

oh and when i crashed the airbag didn't even go off so yeah thats the itallians for ya :P
