Splinter Cell: Conviction

From that I know you like metal gear. Because its basically the same.

Splinter cell: metal gear and now splinter cell: smackdown

I mean come on, the first mission coming from the water, main gate is locked go through the vents. Daylight stealth missions, silly silly. They might as well just make it a new ip.

You make it seem like you need to be restricted to night time and indoor missions for stealth.
There was nothing wrong with the first mission in Splinter Cell: Double Agent.

It is possible to be stealth in the daytime

here's a slightly off topic question.

If i was gonna try and get into Splinter Cell, Which game should I play first?

I know there's like a first game! But I also know the way games advance, And i'm guessing I'd find the first game hard to play now, Because it's probably dated.

Double agent a good place to start? Or Pandora tomorrow?

Well Double Agent was my first one and I soon got wind of what was going on even if the tutorial was a bit throw you in the deep end (imo). If you've got a 360 you might as well start here.

When I think sam fisher I think 3 green dots and a black background and sometimes an innocent, clueless guard. When I think daytime 'stealth' I think hitman and metal gear solid 'tactical espionage'. Why cant they just let splinter cell be? IIRC chaos theory was the highest praised game on the xbox after the halo's.

Chaos theory would be a good place to start. Double agent isnt 100% splinter cell and doesnt correctly reflect sam fisher. I dont wanna see his face damn it!.

I loved Double Agent :p.

As did I :) People complained about the missions that took place during the day and argued that they involved no stealth, but thats just because they were playing it that way. I managed to get 100% stealth rating on most levels (including the daylight ones)

One thing I think that sucked was the Multi-player, the gameplay wasnt that bad its just that it lacked variety and the lobby system sucked (similar situation to Gears of War)

The wrong thing I think they did though was take away the Co-op that was present in Chaos Theory, which I still have yet to complete (over Xbox Live) since the net code sucked that much it was unplayable. Although the Xbox 1 version of Double Agent was meant to have the Co-op that the 360 version was missing.

Ubisoft Montreal developed Double Agent for the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and Wii
Ubisoft Shanghai developed Double Agent for the Xbox 360 and PS3

The first Splinter Cell :) It might seem dated compared to the other ones, but definately the best place to begin. Pandora Tommorow seems to be the least liked of the 4 :p

Double Agent was the best in the so far IMO. I loved how they opened the game up with missions in the daytime. I hope Conviction is more of the same, the vids I've seen so far look OK

The 1st Splinter Cell was what made me finally get a Xbox :) loved it, don't think they have really ever bettered the 1st game as an overall experience.

This does involve stealth elements, thankfully it's upgraded so that you can disappear into crowds rather than having to sit in shadows and behind walls like older, probably outdated stealth methods in games.

The step up from hiding in the shadows to hiding in plain view of the enemy is a much more interesting prospect.

Not one of my current pre-orders. I'll keep an eye out when it's released for a good deal.

Its a bit of a revival, just saw this posted on CVG

Splinter Cell Conviction has been taken "back to the drawing board" by Ubisoft Montreal.

That's according to a report in the latest Xbox World 360 mag. Though Ubisoft isn't saying anything, the mag says it's heard that the surprising development decision has forced Splinter Cell back into the festive period of 2009 - or as late as Spring 2010.

Conviction has been in development for some years now, surfacing early last year with combat involving dynamic scenery and crowd stealth gameplay that focused on mixing in with the public in Washington DC - a bit like Assassin's.

According to XBW, it's likely that the decision was made after Conviction was outdated by more recent gaming developments - most notably Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed.

Ubisoft's UbiDays event is due to take place in Paris next week, so hopefully we'll get an official word then.

Hopefully its not true, as i was looking to see how this game turned out, if it was going to be more like a modern day AC with more stuff to do im pretty sure it would have been a winner!

Bummer, I always look forward to new Splinter Cell games.

I still haven't finished Double Agent yet. It's the only one I haven't completed so I might have to re-visit it.

God damn it was looking forward to this too :(

Lets hope they make a decent lasting MP experience this time. I did enjoy the Chaos Theory and Double Agent MP experience, but a lot of other didnt so it was kind of over quite quickly for me.

good grief - this thread being on page one reminded me that SC actually existed!

it seems like ages since double agent!

is conviction still 360 exclusive?

might be worth a fortnights play time to complete on hard
could never get into the multiplayer

Its the worse one imo, they removed too much stuff! Red/Amber/Green for detection and no sound indicator! :\

Splinter Cell 1 on the Xbox wins.

Am looking forward to Conviction, just hope they take steps in the right direction because they are taking a different approach.
