I just put together a new rig. I decided to go for the Antec 900 as my case due to the low price and (relatively) positive reviews. However, while those blue fan lights looked cool for all of ten minutes, they're really beginning to annoy me now.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to turn them off?

I considered snipping the wires, but I figured there would be some risks associated with this (short circuit, or could snip wrong wire and take out the fans).

A hammer would be perfect for turning the lights off :D.

You could snip the wires, or, you could find where LEDs connected to the fan and remove the wire for them. It's nothing complex really. :)

I know nothing about electricals though. Is it ok to just snip the wires? I would have thought it's dangerous to just have exposed wires with juice running through them, near to all my precious new components.

well you could just buy some 120mm fans (black + silent ones if you like that better). or a solid side panel.

though i wouldnt snip the wires as it would probably not work any more if you did.

What, the lights are amazing :p

yeaa they are cool :D but.... if i leave my pc on downloading over night they are rather bright so usually put my chair in the line between the bed and the pc so i can't see them directly, but they still project onto the celing.... and the HDD light is like a mini strobe in the pitch black :p

but yea if you do want to stop them, either replace the fans or go round the edges and find the LEDs and just snip the 2 clear wires going to them, i think its just the clear cables anyways, the fans actual cables are coloured :p i think... check before you take my advice

That's one of the main reasons why I'd like to get rid of the lights. Seriously, all I want from a case is for it to be big enough to fit my components, to keep my components cool, to have all the necessary I/Os, and to look relatively innocuous.

*Easy* Just buy non LED fans and replace them... "cheap as chips"

just disconnect the power and hdd LED's from the mainboard for those two :)

yeah i was going to say. if you really dont like power/hdd leds then you could just hide them round the back of the mobo tray or something. i dont see why you wouldnt want to use them. i quite like having them . then again my case has a door thing which hides them so....

OK guys, I've just opened up my 900 to tidy up the wires and deal with this LED situation, but I haven't a clue which wire I need to cut. There's a black and a red one leading to my power supply - can anyone tell me which one I should cut?

Thanks for the advice, but I won't be getting anymore fans. I don't see the necessity, even if they are cheap. The fans I have are fine, apart from the LEDs. It's way easier just to snip a few wires than to replace the fans altogether.

I would really appreciate anyone who has a 900 telling me which wires I need to cut. I don't want to get this wrong.
