Anyone install the new N95 8GB firmware V 20.0.016 ??

Just updated my 8GB - seems to make the phone a little bit snappier but it could be the reformat I did that's responsible for that.

I noticed that it seems a little quicker too, i didnt reformat the memory though. So it must be a universal thing.

I've got the v15 one atm.

V 20.0.016 firmware is already loaded onto new N95 8GB from Orange.

Why exactly do certain brands such as O2 & vodaphone restrict you from updating to the most recent firmware version?

Firmwares are different for different operators.

They dont restrict you, its just that they are slow in making a firmware for their version of the phone,

Nope not available on vodafone firmware to answer my own question.

On a separate note does Nemesis Service Suite works on N95 8gb anymore as it wouldn't scan my phone. Just kept on saying error (phone was connected via PC Suite mode and was detected by the computer).

You need to install an older version of the connectivity cable driver. The newest drivers don't work with Nemesis.

Thanks for the reply but I did have an older version install (which i stupidly changed to the newer version thinking it would solve the problem). Thing is it (older version) would scan the phone but wouldn't scan on the product code screen. Weird :confused:

That's not strictly true. Vodafone and Orange (to name but two) remove the VoIP functionality from the phone because they don't want you to use it.

My debranded Vodafone N95 8GB with the standard 20.0.016 firmware has options for "Internet telephony", I bet the Orange one doesn't...

You have to switch it on, its under the display settings area.

Explains it and how to install it. Can be done but is quite a hassle. The new firmware has it's own version called ASR but that doesn't work straight away if you have a branded phone, which many people do. Go back a page or two is this here thread about that

I got my N95 8gb last Friday, and whilst its on an O2 contract, I cant see anything specifically 'O2' about it - there aren't any O2 apps on there that I've noticed. And also, my screen rotates perfectly fine when I put the phone on its side - so would there be any reason to upgrade? I'm perfectly happy with it so far!

Let it crash.
End the program, leave the phone connected, start again, and it'll flash.
At least it did for me.
