VAG 1.8T owners/ question

good stuff, be sure to get 2 x ~32-35mm jubilee clips and a small tie-wrap before trying to fit it then realising you can't without them, then being unable to put your standard one back on :D

whats the cable tie for? mines got green spring too, didnt come with any others?

blimey green is only upto 15psi??? mines supposedly running 1.4-1.5 bar so thats about 20psi correct?

£20 for a spring lol ok 4 :)

$15 USD,

Green - 5-15 PSI
Yellow - 15-23 PSI
Blue - 23-30 PSI
Red - 30 + PSI

Seems to be holding boost and dumping fine so its staying, its only too strong if it doesn't dump.

I'm away to up it to 16/17PSI so will need a yellow most likely

bradmax yea that is >20PSI so you will most likely need to get the yellow spring

the cable tie is for holding the vacuum hose on, its what forge recommend over a small jubilee clip. I bought both small tie-wraps and a small jubilee, and its impossible to use the jubilee clip anyway as the shape of the dv means you can't tighten it

All this talk of springs has reminded me that I need to give Custom Code a call to chase my yellow spring. Had the S3 remapped by them and they fitted a 007P at the same time, but with a green spring rather than a yellow. They were supposed to be shipping me a yellow but haven't so far.

What would be the effect of running a green spring on a car running up to 1.5bar of boost?

scratch you're not going to damage anything running that, it just means that you may be losing some boost due to the spring not being strong enough to keep the piston fully closed under high boost - so if you are then you should notice a bit of a power gain when you install the yellow spring

hehe, is it the 180 or the 225? What have you done to get it up to 20psi?

yea scratch it could easy be the dv that's causing that problem

its the 225, i was told by the remapper that id be getting 1.4-1.5 bar (ive no idea if thats true or not) but i know from past experience that another mapper who i know well and trust said theirs is around 19psi so I guess 20 is believable???

Also think Revo is 20ish

Sounds about right. The Custom Code map requests 1.5bar as well.

yea that's perfectly believable, should be pushing around 260bhp with a generic remap. Great fun :D

yeah thats what i was told to expect approx 255-265, no 4wd rr around me so wont know tbh can anyone tell me if its worth getting a K&N panel filter? or is it a waste of £40

I had a Forge 007p dump valve on my LCR.

But when I got my Big Turbo conversion done by Jabba - They told me the standard dump valve is actually the best ;)

...or rather 'works best'

well i cant see how a plastic diaphragm can work better than a piston but anyway the main reason they should be installed is for the fact that the standard bosch valves are prone to failure after a remap

the forge also sounds cooler ;)

i'd recommend a panel filter to improve the airflow a bit, I went for the BMC :)
