Whens the next cards coming out!

:D

I know everything apart from this Chemistry jazz. :(

Need to get myself one of the new 1Tb hard drive and connect it to my brain I think so I can actually remember everything.

Get another one and put it in RAID for maximum performance lol. :D

Originally from early posts I thought 4870 was a WEEK or so after 4850 (after the 18th), but I hope it isn't because I wanna see prices/performance from the off without waiting even more!

ooh i get money in on the 27th :p could be a nice present for the start of summer.

what sort of price do yous reckon and also what sort of price drop on the current gen do you think we will see?

So are these the cards that will play crysis at max settings that ppl have been waiting for?

roflmao. NO!

Well depends on res.

GTX 280 is only 20-30% quicker than current fastest card so if that card is only getting 25 fps, the new ones will give you 30 fps.

Don't expect a card coming out which will turn your crysis performance which is at 20 fps to 40 fps cause you will be disappointed.

So there another 9800 series cards then:(

Nope, better than that. The 9800 GTX is just a 8800 GTS g92 rebadged which at high res isn't really any better than a 8800GTX in some games. GTX260 and GTX280 cards may be a 50% improvement on that so it is a step up, just not maybe the 100 - 200% gain everybody would have liked to have seen.

To be fair they might actually be able run Crysis at 1650 x 1080 at very high at good rates but some people are waiting for a gpu which can run Crysis at 1920 x 1200 and higher resolutions at good framerates.

There is always the option to have two or three of them which would probably do the trick but you are talking £900 - £1350 for that so not cheap.

Quick response:)

Would you say its worth me upgrading from my current card to the GTX280.
Heres my spec:
e6850
Abit AW9D-Max
4gb ram
BFG 8800GTX OC2
Resolution 1920x1200

Can't say and that is honest. Still too much speculation and rumour going around so until the cards are out and the reviews are done nobody knows.

In theory the GTX280 ought to be a good step up from your 8800GTX OC2 but I would never buy one on the first day until I was sure. ;)

I would say that only depends if you noticing performance issues now. Despite what some may say, there is no point in upgrading if you don't have any problems, even if you can triple performance for £50 ( I wish!!)

Some of us always want more, more, more though :p

I thought it was going to be June 23rd with the 4850 and small quantities of 4870s. Then some time in July the GDDR5 supply picks up and 4870s are easy to get a hold of and 4870X2 some time in August.

If they have a 4870 on here for £175 and the claims of 30% over 9800GTX are founded there will be atleast one new PC being ordered from overclockers that day :)

Unless I stumble across a sizeable amount of cash between now and the release of these cards, I won't be buying anything. I'm just in it for the geek points. :p
