This country is going to the dogs....

WTF? Troll much? Your opinion is highly helpful thanks, I'll pass them on.

*sigh* Thanks for that. I only suggested a way to prevent further loss in future, and you think I'm trolling?

These days?

When Ireland is at its safest for the last 40 years?

I'd have said the same regardless of city...heck, cars get torched in the field outside this little insignificant village..

I don't think he meant it spitefully and i actually understand and agree with what he said. I know people that have nice cars and they're always getting keyed, wing mirrors smashed off, headlights smashed and unfortunately burnt out from time to time and the only time your car will be truly safe as it can be is if it's locked in a nice garage.

These days?

I think he meant with the increase in mindless vandalism/wanton destruction of property.

Re-read what you typed. I don't think he decided to leave them out on the street. Garages aren't common in Ireland - I've had to build one 30 miles from my house, as there are NONE available to rent anywhere near me. It isn't always as simple as "shoulda woulda coulda". If he wants to own those cars, it's his right to. It's a very good area which makes it even more surprising. Heading over there now to have a look.

NO ******* WAY.

That's one of my good mates. Can't believe I haven't heard about it yet. I was on the phone to him yesterday and he was washing them all :(

I can't imagine how gutted he must be :( The evo had over 550bhp, and the RS4 was like his baby.

Have you spoken to him yet? Keep us updated about how it pans out, hope he gets most of the value back through the insurers, if he doesn't it will be a kick in the nuts after already being kicked in the teeth :(

why did he need all those cars anyway, you can only drive one at a time :P

He didn't have to 'need' them at all, but that isn't the principal of the matter, They were his possessions and somebody thought they could just help themselves to them or instead just destroy them, which is wrong. That's the principal of the matter.

I feel really sorry for the fella and his loss must be heart breaking. :(

Saying that i agree. You simply can not leave cars like that parked in a public place night after night. Its a sad fact of life. Hes lucky he hadnt been held at gun/knife point for the keys. Surely he could have built a garage some where like you? He dont seem short of money.

I know you will take that the wrong way.. but meh its all imo.

That is a real shame. Cant believe just because they couldnt get it, they will set fire to it. You wonder why people would be so sick to do such a thing.

Just another day on OcUK ..

Poor guy gets his car collection torched , OcUk Civil war erupts over titles, spelling and why he is allowed to have the cars anyway.

Feel sorry for this guy, hope his luck changes !

Point understood, but at the same time it's outside his apartment - it's just like leaving an expensive car in a driveway which happens all the time. You need to drive past the (recently retired from office) ex-PM of this country's house to get in there which has constant police protection. It's a VERY VERY safe place.

As for the garage? Would you really expect him to build a garage 30 miles away for his daily driver - the RS4? Ok the Evo isn't his daily, but it's a fun weekend car that he shouldn't have to park 30 miles away to use. I buily my garage for a non road legal racing car so it's a different matter. He uses the garage he built for his racing car (which he couldn't leave on the road).

Was over at his this evening cleaning up all the bits stuck to the tarmac. He tore the tendons in his finger loading one of the cars onto the trailer so has to go in for an operation first thing in the morning. Let's say his spirits weren't the highest!

Well it wasnt Safe enough. Ive got a feeling he may rethink his ideas after this. Dont get me wrong.. Id happly see the people who did this hang! Hell i had a cheap lil car broken into and i wanted to kill someone!

Are there any leads on who did it?

it was next to the evo, on the left of the picture, probably only side of it got burnt, but enough to write it off

Is it possible that one of the neighbours did it? After all he's parked his 205 (and maybe the evo?) in the visitors spot and the Audi on double yellow lines which I can imagine would **** some people off.

Wicksta,
His company built the apartment block and he owns the road, literally! All the neighbours park along the double yellows too. In fact, I believe he painted them there himself.... Plus the fact that he saw the scumbags doing it, and the fact it nearly set the apartment block on fire pretty much shows that they didn't do it ;)
