Thinking of going there in the summer as we have enough airmiles to go there for free and want somewhere which isn't going to be full of Brits getting ****** for the weekend.

I've heard it's a nice (expensive) place to go, anyone been before? Enough to do there for Friday - > Monday visit?

I have been to Stockholm for 10 days, admittedly on a business trip and so that's where I spent most of my time.

Stayed at the nordic lights hotel which looks out over the one of the main roads though Stockholm.
Nice place IMO, don't really know much about what there is to do though as I was working.

My parents went to Stockholm, and all I got was this lousy syndrome.

Should I get my coat now, or shall I phone the taxi first?

I have an uncle who lives there, he's said on many occasions it's very, very expensive.

I did a 6 month contract in Stockholm about 4 years ago. It's one of my favourite City's of the world.
The people are friendly, the architecture is beautiful, scenery is stunning, bars are good and the women are out of this world - it's true what they say.

It is a little expensive, but what you get is a great city and a great country.

I hope to move there permanently one day.

I nearly went last year. We missed our flight. :(

Yes I've missed a flight, got far too drunk in Riga and woke up after the plane had gone, work weren't too impressed:D

You've sold me, I've read it's meant to be a nice city and since we get free flights the price should even out. Would you recommend any hotels there?

beautiful city, very clean tidy and generally classy

definitely go, I can't wait to go back again, and if you're in the old town with cobbled streets looks out for a restaurant called Michelangelo's, simply amazing food

Born and raised in the outskirts of Stockholm - LOVELY place!

Be sure to visit the streets of Gamla Stan (old town), Skansen (the zoo) and Gröna Lund (permanent fairground) while in Stockholm itself, and make sure you catch a ferry boat out to somewhere nice in Skärgården (Stockholm archipelago) like Sandhamn, Utö, Vaxholm, or other lovely islands mentioned in guide books.

What a ridiculous question, is there enough to do for a weekend!

There is enough to do in Basildon for a weekend, or somewhere horrendously crap in the UK, let alone a beautiful European Capital!

Might need to filter that swear word :p

I went last year and it was lovely. Amazingly clean and the people were very friendly. Beautiful city with loads to do. Get yourself a guide book.

People say it's expensive but it's only really the alcohol which is taxed like crazy. Think £10 for a glass of wine and £5 for a beer. The food isn't cheap if you're eating out a lot but there are some lovely places to eat.

Overall very impressed and would definitely go back!

I haven't been to Stockholm before but I'm going later this year. Originally I'd planned to find a cheap hotel in the centre but I saw a listing for the Malardrottningen Yacht which as a fancy old boat moored just off Gamla Stan and I couldn't resist.

I'm heading out there for the start of the NHL hockey season in October, there's a couple of games at the Globe Arena. I can't wait!
