Whos ditching GX2 for GTX 280?

I don't have money to burn, and it looks like the GTX will be the $500 monster and the 4870XT will be the value card. So unless there's a competitive GTS part I probably won't be able to afford it. I broke the bank pretty badly for the X2.

Also after my 8800GT debacle I swore i'd never take another nVidia card until they started cleaning their driver act up. I was apprehensive beforehand as i'd been stung like that before, and it all blew up in my face again. :(

Fairy fluff mate.

Gonna wait and see what happens, but it'll probably be a 4870XT if any.

Rumor has is that there isn't gonna be a 4870XT :D, there's meant to be an HD4870 though! :p

*come on everyone, XT and pro were dropped long time ago now*

i wait till i come back from holidays in august and see whats the performance between ati and nvidia and a price dont want to spend more then 250£ on a card

Will get one when I upgrade to a 40 inch monitor. Most of the time it's only for e-willy waving. There aren't many good games atm to spend that much cash. My 8800GTX is still good for at least another year.

I'm guessing these won't be compatible with PCI-E 1.0 ?, or will it be a case of it works with 1.0 but with lower performance ?

Of course it will work!! How many X38s are out there. Not a lot. nVidia/AMD PCI-E 2.0 mobos have only recently arrived as well. They would sell hardly any cards.

I will sell my 8800GTX for one of the new cards, if and only if they can play Crysis at 1440x900, Very High with AA. Otherwise for me it's pointless since my card owns every other game in existence at this resolution.

Mmm, am looking for 1680x1050 with the filters cranked at a good fps (i'd be happy if it sat steadily at 50frames) on my secondary system. But like you guys have said am not mad keen on spending £400+ on a new card when PC gaming is kind of dead this summer.

If there claiming 25% quicker than the 9800GTX for £150ish with the 4870 then, I may be tempted, am looking to go with an Asus X38 so crossfire could also be a possibility.
